Pewsum 10 - 0 Kefalos

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 36381 to Die Pewsumer Burg. Heinzpeter Turke was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Salah Saad Hmouz and Ari Gedsø. Lineup: Dubois - Schofield, Rather, Ocampo - Bradshaw, Huisbauer, Stallworth, Tate, Ritsos - Leduc, Gregory.

The following players had been chosen: Abacha - Hunsaker, Johansson, Santana, Nalls-Jackson - Venegas, Walter, Maatchap, Becerra - Carrizosa, Thomson.

TuS Pewsum fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Kefalos FC, the formation of choice was 4-4-2. Pewsum took the lead 20 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as Cole Gregory elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 29 minutes in, Kefalos's Alfonso Becerra received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 36 minutes, Cole Gregory put Pewsum ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. After 41 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Léon Leduc gave the Pewsum supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0. The referee showed Kefalos's Rodrigo Carrizosa the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Cole Gregory squirmed through their central defence after 43 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0. This third goal completed a hattrick for Cole Gregory. Pewsum's Mirco Huisbauer increased the lead to 5 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 44 minutes. Halftime score was 5 - 0. Pewsum had most of the ball, with 80 percent of possession.

Donnie Ocampo struck a 30 metre free kick home 52 minutes into the match. 6 - 0 for the home team. Pewsum increased the lead as Cole Gregory struck to make the score 7 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. 58 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Mirco Huisbauer broke through, making the score 8 - 0 for Pewsum. Casey Rather should probably have put his team up another goal after 62 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Adolf Abacha kept the visitors in the game. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Pewsum's Thimios Ritsos somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Cole Gregory, who struck for 9 - 0. After 71 minutes, Pewsum sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Alex Stallworth, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 10 - 0. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 10 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Pewsum, with 83 percent of the ball.

Pewsum's best player was Cole Gregory. Kirk Bradshaw was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Kefalos player was without a doubt Tony Venegas. Ben Santana turned in a dismal performance, however.
