Clovers 5 - 0 dream

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 16189 to Grassy Meadow. Per Bækken was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Moreland MacO'Shannaig and Florian Skrzat. The following players had been chosen: Zhilenkov - Lusk, Reynolds, Ellsworth - Pero, Sterling, Wichers, Álvarez, Byrd - Kumar, Bustamante.

Lineup: Bingaman - Samson, Purvis, Kauper, Cabrera - Bell, Goodman, Goldsmith, Stenzel - Bronson, Tolleson.

Denton Clovers started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas iron dream lined up in a 4-4-2 formation. Clovers broke through on the left 2 minutes into the game, with Florencio Bustamante firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. The referee showed dream's Efrain Samson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 5 minutes, Florencio Bustamante was massaging his right knee with a worried look on his face, but managed to get up in the end. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 12 minutes, Clovers tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. Clovers increased the lead as Ric Reynolds struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. After 28 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Marcellus Lusk might have resulted in another goal for Clovers. However, Lionel Bingaman made a spectacular save. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Clovers, with 65 percent of the ball.

Falco Wichers wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. The home side's Falco Wichers curled a free kick home after 64 minutes, putting Clovers ahead 3 - 0. dream's Jamie Bell was shown a yellow card after 65 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The home side's Ric Reynolds came close to extending the lead 67 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but Lionel Bingaman managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. The Clovers free kick 73 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of Sounak Kumar, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 4 - 0! Clovers's Falco Wichers got himself booked for a foul. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Marvin Ellsworth squirmed through their central defence after 81 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 0. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile Kristopher Stenzel. Charley Byrd has acquired a talent for predicting the movements of the opposing defence over the years and this almost resulted in a goal 84 minutes into the match. Sounak Kumar should probably have put his team up another goal after 86 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Lionel Bingaman kept the visitors in the game. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 5 - 0. Clovers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.

The most dominating Clovers player was without a doubt Florencio Bustamante. Marcellus Lusk was a disappointment, however. Kristopher Stenzel performed admirably for dream. Lionel Bingaman on the other hand, had a terrible day.
