dream 0 - 8 Villany

Due to an all-day shower, 12000 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at iron dream maracanà. Ferdo Lazarevič was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and Ingolf Batsch. Lineup: Bingaman - Samson, Purvis, Kauper, Cabrera - Bell, Goodman, Goldsmith, Stenzel - Bronson, Tolleson.

Starters: Infante - Call, Liu, Siddon, Young - Yohn, Cochran, Rochelle, Hale - Tsai, Grzesik-McCoy.

Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 4-4-2 formation. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like Kristopher Stenzel. Many thought Kurt Goldsmith ought to have been awarded a penalty 13 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Saúl 'The Wall' Infante after a determined run through the middle. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 27 minutes into the match left Villany's William Liu completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. The referee showed dream's Kurt Goldsmith the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Bryan Yohn received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 32 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Villany fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 33 minutes into the game, dream's Jamie Bell rolled over in pain after taking a forceful blow to his upper chest. After bandaging his collarbone, the medics led him off the field. This gave Adam Tippett a chance to take to the field instead. With Jamie Bell no longer on the pitch, Rudy Kauper became the new set pieces taker. The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit Bryan Yohn just fine. Chip Rochelle increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3. Villany's Chip Rochelle got himself booked for a foul. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Villany, with 72 percent of the ball.

After 53 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Lonnie Tsai who increased Villany's lead to 0 - 4. Donny Goodman, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. After the ball was lifted in from the left, Willie Grzesik-McCoy was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 64 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. After 70 minutes, Villany's Willie Grzesik-McCoy burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 5. 74 minutes in, Villany's Dilan Siddon received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 75 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Lonnie Tsai a chance to increase the lead for Villany, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. Lonnie Tsai of Villany took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 76 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 7. By then Lonnie Tsai had scored three goals - a hat trick! 78 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 8 as Willie Grzesik-McCoy finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. The game was close to savage at times, and Villany's Dilan Siddon received a second yellow card after 84 minutes; his ticket out of the game. Donny Goodman went down after twisting his right ankle in minute 85, but was able to continue the match none the less. The referee announced 4 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 8. Villany enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 79 percent of possession.

Most important dream player was Kristopher Stenzel. Lionel Bingaman was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Villany player was without a doubt Saúl 'The Wall' Infante. William Liu on the other hand, had a terrible day.
