Oaos 0 - 2 Crossers

A scorching day at Oaos FC Arena, where 6971 spectators were in place for today's match. Sebastian Sossenheim was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Wictor Adolfsson and Tom Wolfs. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Metropolitana derby and the crowd was divided evenly. The following players had been chosen: Caroca - Aizpuru, Schwets, Verlegh - Torres, Abbiati, Frias, Mínguez, Hernández - Piazzalunga, Hoxhallari.

They fielded: Undona - Lerga, Pasiego, Aguilera - Kozmian, Loncopan, Ossa, Muñoz, Redlich - Kempes, Pinilla.

As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. Oaos mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their brilliant level with that tactic. Mario 'El Matador' Kempes had a good opportunity to give Crossers the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. With 18 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. Paul 'Pinigol' Pinilla put the ball away for 0 - 1. 21 minutes in, Crossers's Enrique 'Murallón' Pasiego received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Hermógenes Caroca was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 21 minutes, with his left thigh bandaged. The replacement for the injured player was Enrique Milapichun. With 31 minutes played, Mario 'El Matador' Kempes nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Oaos tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. The referee showed Crossers's Gilberto Aguilera the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 44 minutes, Roberto Aizpuru slowly got up on his feet, clutching his left thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Crossers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.

The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Olaf Kozmian from Crossers a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 59 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Content with how the game was proceeding, the Crossers coach let Alberto Moxo replace Zalo Lerga after 65 minutes. The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs Leonel Muñoz found it hard to get back into position. Olaf Kozmian left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 69 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Clemente Malaree was the replacement. Rodrigo Torres of Oaos received a yellow card after 70 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Leonel Muñoz was, after 79 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Enrique Milapichun made the save. Crossers's Gonzalo Loncopan got himself booked for a foul. Gilberto Aguilera came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over Enrique Milapichun but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. The visitors' Mauricio Redlich took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 84 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Crossers. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 0 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Crossers, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

Most important Oaos player was Santiago Frias. Enrique Milapichun on the other hand, had a terrible day. Nahuel 'El Toqui' Ossa performed admirably for Crossers. On the other hand, Clemente Malaree's play was disheartening.
