Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Stadio del Borgo saw a crowd turnout of 3627. Sten Herigstad was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gerold Wachs and Leo Luiz Loefen. Lineup: Morales - Mangini, Natov - Bridelli, Ferri, Pasinato, Bragone, Tallarida - Levorato, Stefanelli, Boccalatte.

The following players took the field: Struk - Akbora, Dacosta, Rahman, Feyizdar, Souëdi - Ribeiro, Łagodziński, Muratović - Babeş, Petri.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Borgomalva F.C. went for 2-5-3 while Guarda con el Gato has decided to play a 5-3-2 lineup. Guarda were relying on their world class ability to counter-attack. With their counter attack move halted 3 minutes into the game, Guarda were left with a free kick. The ball is passed straight through to the other end of the penalty area, with hopes for it to reach Hatim Souëdi. However, he didn't have his wits about him and the ball went out. 5 minutes into the game, José Urbano Ribeiro was a hair's breadth away from giving Guarda the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by Ulisses Morales saved the home team that time. 22 minutes into the game, Cebrail Feyizdar finished off a Guarda left wing counterattack, making the score 0 - 1. Sergio Ferri went down after twisting his left ankle after 24 minutes, and had to leave the pitch. The player that took his place was Luigi Amorese. After 29 minutes, the defensive line of Guarda created a counterattack through the middle that gave Tony Rahman a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 33 minutes played, Sergio Bridelli of Borgomalva made the score 1 - 1. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Borgomalva, with 67 percent of the ball.

As the 70 minute mark approached, the Guarda coach decided it was time for a substitution. Andreas Petri reluctantly made way for Vladimir Koton on the pitch. As Andreas Petri left the field, the coach signaled to Vladimir Koton to be the new set pieces taker. After 70 minutes, the Borgomalva coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Nikolay Natov off the field. Erhard Bollmann took his place. Patrizio Stefanelli was handed the Borgomalva captain's armband. Many thought Patrizio Stefanelli ought to have been awarded a penalty 72 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Klaudiusz Struk after a determined run through the middle. Alin Babeş of Guarda was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Guarda's Hasan Hüseyin Akbora left the field after 85 minutes having twisted his hand in a collision, causing a slight injury. This gave Ludwik Pasieka a chance to take to the field instead. 87 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Borgomalva to take the lead after a good cross from the right found Corrado Pasinato alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Elixio Dacosta rose like a salmon, and was very close to scoring with a header after a corner, but sent the ball just over the bar. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Borgomalva substitution. Umberto Curinga came on for Corrado Pasinato. The counterattacks of Guarda were deadly and 89 minutes into the game, Vladimir Koton received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 1 - 2. Umberto Curinga of Borgomalva received a yellow card after 89 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 2. Borgomalva claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

Most important Borgomalva player was Erhard Bollmann. Sergio Bridelli was a disappointment, however. Guarda's top performer was clearly Vladimir Koton. Ludwik Pasieka on the other hand, had a terrible day.
