170032 spectators had come to The Fortress this cloudy day. Amrollah Zarringhalam was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jochen Karlshafen and Edvard Hansen. In some sections of the arena it was filled to capacity, and temporary seats had to be added for more people to be allowed in. Starters: Ranggalawe - Kido, Pieterz - Aksa, Ronggodani, Roring, Supriarso, Maryono - Zamroni, Widyantoro, Muda.

The following players took the field: Marso - Groenhart, Walling, 翊良 (Yiliang), Chakraborty, Tjen A Kwoei - Engelhart, Wolo, Hasselnook - Hoost, Baidjoe.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 5-3-2. For their match strategy, U-20 Suriname had decided to use their world class ability to counter-attack whenever possible. U-20 Indonesia's Masperi Ronggodani refused to leave the field despite hurting his back 14 minutes into the match. U-20 Indonesia's Arthur Widyantoro soared above the crowd, but couldn't knock the corner home 16 minutes into the match. U-20 Suriname were able to mount several counterattacks, such as the impressive one after 23 minutes, but 雷 (Lei) 翊良 (Yiliang) lofted a free kick over the crossbar. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Panca Muda got himself booked. The manager of U-20 Indonesia was not happy. After a fine move down the middle Asbi Pieterz nearly gave the home side a goal after 35 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. U-20 Suriname had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 36 minutes, but Demilio Groenhart's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. The referee showed U-20 Suriname's Shashank Chakraborty the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Vicky Kido went down after twisting his left ankle after 39 minutes, and had to leave the pitch. Hamam Rais had already been warming up, and came on for Vicky Kido. Halftime score was 0 - 0. U-20 Indonesia claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.

Gaitano Baidjoe has acquired a talent for predicting the movements of the opposing defence over the years and this almost resulted in a goal 52 minutes into the match. Many thought Ruli Zamroni ought to have been awarded a penalty 55 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Sigi Marso after a determined run through the middle. 56 minutes into the game U-20 Suriname managed a counterattack, but Ulrich Hoost took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. Demilio Groenhart of U-20 Suriname was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. U-20 Suriname's counterattacks created a good chance for Demilio Groenhart on the right after 83 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. After 84 minutes, U-20 Suriname began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. As the 89 minute mark approached, the U-20 Indonesia coach decided it was time for a substitution. Ruli Zamroni reluctantly made way for Agam Sikumbang on the pitch. The match ends 0 - 0. U-20 Indonesia enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.

U-20 Indonesia's best player was Arthur Widyantoro. Agam Sikumbang was a disappointment, however. Ulrich Hoost performed admirably for U-20 Suriname. Demilio Groenhart on the other hand, had a terrible day.
