The 2744 spectators at Wire stadium were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Jochen Kinder was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bruno Baía and Cristoforo Teolis. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. They fielded: Leprince - Gick, Pontiroli Gobbi, Scuppa, Leyh - Kostelník, Lasota, Hulsbosch - Šustáček, Balogh, Mňuk.

The following players had been chosen: Yates - King, Misariscabame, Krug, Małolepszy - Jónás, Koszarek, Blackmon-Thomas, King, Páling - Barton.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team FC Prague Slivers went for 4-3-3 while Steeple Sinderby Wanderers has decided to play a 4-5-1 lineup. Wanderers clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their world class level with that tactic. Some great play up the middle by Slivers led to a chance for Pravoslav Mňuk to score after 19 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. With the clock showing 23 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Wanderers resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Nick King in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Wanderers's Roberto Blackmon-Thomas was shown a yellow card after 33 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Wanderers's Alex Barton made use of his speed to get free of the defence, but he still couldn't get a shot off 34 minutes into the match. Slivers took the lead 41 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as Tomas 'Ballinho' Balogh elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Wanderers's Lesław Małolepszy got himself booked for a foul. Terry King made a run for the goal 43 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Antonín Šustáček from Slivers a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 44 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! It was 1 - 0 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Slivers, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.

Šimon Lasota wanted to play on, but the Slivers coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by Jiří Hubač. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Slivers coach let Pedro Golfín replace Virginio Pontiroli Gobbi after 50 minutes. Coming in from the right, Wanderers had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 53 minutes, but Lesław Małolepszy's attempt to finish was easily stopped. 67 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Wanderers's Roberto Blackmon-Thomas received his second yellow card and was sent off. Denzell Koszarek rose like a salmon, and was very close to scoring with a header after a corner, but sent the ball just over the bar. The referee showed Slivers's Paolo Scuppa the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Following a collision in the 76, Wanderers's Ábel Jónás complained of a damaged shoulder. Eventually, he forced himself to continue the match anyway. Denzell Koszarek finished off the counterattack of Wanderers from the left rather easily, making the score 1 - 1. 80 minutes into the game, Slivers seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. Wanderers's counterattack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision! János Páling's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. When Antonín Šustáček made yet another studs-first tackle after 83 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the Slivers player for the second time, sending him off the pitch. Having taken a hard knock between his legs, Luis Aldaír Misariscabame limped off the pitch in a reduced state of dignity. He could not continue, managing only 84 minutes for his team this day. David Jørgensentried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. With 86 minutes gone, Nick King suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Wanderers caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. With the scores being level after 91 minutes, the match went into extra time. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Slivers, with 66 percent of the ball.

During the break, Slivers's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. 112 minutes in, Wanderers's David Jørgensen received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Jiří Hubač went down after twisting his right ankle in minute 112, but was able to continue the match none the less. With the score still deadlocked after extra time, the teams took to the field for a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner.

Slivers's Alberto Gick kept his cool as he faced down David Yates. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 2 - 1. Wanderers's János Páling showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 2 - 2. Slivers's Pedro Golfín made no mistake. David Yates didn't have a chance. 3 - 2. A confident Freddy Krug of Wanderers put the ball right where he wanted, but Jean Leprince was right there for the save. No goal. Slivers's Jean Leprince was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 4 - 2! Wanderers's Ábel Jónás didn't hesitate but Jean Leprince managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 4 - 2 score. Slivers's Lou Hulsbosch coolly put the ball past David Yates. 5 - 2. The match ends 5 - 2. The most dominating Slivers player was without a doubt Tomas 'Ballinho' Balogh. Jiří Hubač on the other hand, had a terrible day. Wanderers's best player was Terry King. However, David Yates made a disastrous appearance.
