FWFC 1 - 8 Uijeongbu

It had rained all day, but 5735 hardy fans still made it out to The Burial Ground. Juho Kuiva was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Dé van Osselaer and Till Ducrot. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. The following players had been chosen: Parnell - Navarro, Kennedy - Hanks, Parsons, Oracz, á Nesi, Himler - Martin, Pettersen, Al-Kaled.

They fielded: Maman - Baek, Tateyan - Kim, Cull, Kim, Choi, Lim - Park, Sa, Ahn.

The teams both lined up their players in 2-5-3 formations. The visiting Henry Cull was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 22 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. The crowd roared in delight as Rafał Oracz finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for FWFC 32 minutes into the match. 1 - 1. Uijeongbu's Dae-Seon Choi gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 33 minutes with a superb strike from the right. With 35 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Dae-Seon Choi of Uijeongbu to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 3. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 3. Uijeongbu enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

Won-Taek Sa left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 56 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Gim-Chi Kim was the replacement. Uijeongbu increased their lead after 59 minutes when Kyung-Han Park broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. The Uijeongbu free kick 72 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of Gim-Chi Kim, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 5! A drive down the left side allowed Ki-Hwan 'Ackbar' Ahn to get in close and score another goal for Uijeongbu after 74 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 6. FWFC's Gilbert 'Bane' Parsons managed a superb strike from the left after 80 minutes that would have left goalkeeper Eran Maman without a chance, had it not hit the post. Gim-Chi Kim received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 82 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 7. The Uijeongbu fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Young-Chae Kim increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 8. 84 minutes in, FWFC's Rafał Oracz received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 8. Uijeongbu had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

The most dominating FWFC player was without a doubt Reynaldo 'Pearl of Peru' Himler. Bert 'Lancaster' Parnell on the other hand, had a terrible day. Uijeongbu's top performer was clearly Gim-Chi Kim. Hyun-Seok Baek turned in a dismal performance, however.
