Due to an all-day shower, 213248 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at HODOS Team Arena. Teemu Lämpsä was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marian Ślązak and Tommi Österberg. If I am correctly informed, temporary seats had been added in sections throughout the arena, and this had enabled the organisers to sell 11715 extra tickets. While a boggy pitch like this was an advantage for physical players, it really didn't help those who relied on speed or technique. Lineup: Antal - Csepeli, Gáspár, Berzsenyi - Kárpáti, Csató, Hegedűs, Lattek, Dénesi - Balinski, Csaplár-Nagy.

The following players took the field: Gonnet - Ducros, Navé, Bureau, Darche - Delaby, Bossu, Naulleau, Liotard - Schindzielorz, Pengam.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Magyarország went for 3-5-2 while France has decided to play a 4-4-2 lineup. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of France, taking advantage of their divine level with that tactic. The referee showed Magyarország's Roland Csepeli the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Benoît Bossu slowly got up on his feet, clutching his right thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. Good work by the France defensive line after 29 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found Cédric Pengam alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. Having turned the direction of play quickly, the France counter attack ended as the ball carrier was brought down violently by a defender after 39 minutes. The resulting free kick was a flat shot into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and did not allow the opponents to reach the ball. One of many good crosses from Dorian Delaby on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by Cédric Pengam, who scored for France. 0 - 1 With 42 minutes played, Magyarország's Thorben Balinski found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Magyarország claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.

Magyarország needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 71 minutes Zoltán Berzsenyi made way for Koppány Zatykó. As the game started to slip away for Magyarország, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. Moncef Navé was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his left knee after 76 minutes. The player that took his place was Jimmy Defresne. After 82 minutes, Kálmán Csaplár-Nagy sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected Thorben Balinski's shot. With the scoreboard clock showing 87 minutes, the inexperienced France team fell into disarray. Magyarország put pressure on the visitors' central defence 88 minutes into the game, but Kálmán Csaplár-Nagy couldn't find an opening. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 1 minute as stoppage time. The match ends 0 - 1. Magyarország enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.

Most important Magyarország player was Koppány Zatykó. Sándor Gáspár was a disappointment, however. France's top performer was clearly Cédric Pengam. Jimmy Defresne turned in a dismal performance, however.
