153729 fans braved the pouring rain at HODOS Team Arena. Vladimir Vitrih was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Giulio Artmann and Ruud-Jan Steenbakkers. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. Starters: Antal - Kiss, Gáspár, Berzsenyi - Kárpáti, Lattek, Szenteczki, Gácsér, Dénesi - Csaplár-Nagy, Sas.

The following players took the field: Ariunbold - Qutugh, Shria, Enkhbold, Stains - Guyuk, Arghun, Jaran - Bekter, Batu, Xoteng.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 4-3-3. Mongol Uls clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their utopian level with that tactic. A slight injury to his right calf muscle meant Tikhtamysh Guyuk had to leave the match early. It happened after 13 minutes. This gave Mukuli 'Muki' Shria a chance to take to the field instead. Having contracted a nasty injury to his right foot, Krisztián Sas had no choice but to leave the pitch, 29 minutes into the match. The replacement for the injured player was Csaba Tuli. Magyarország made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Kálmán Csaplár-Nagy completely alone with keeper Barsbold Ariunbold, who made a spectacular block. A counterattack by Mongol Uls after 31 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but Qoyor Xoteng, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. The referee showed Mongol Uls's Ulagan Stains the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Csaba Tuli was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 34 minutes. The player that took his place was István Ormándi. Krisztián Dénesi managed to make an excellent pass from the wing, but István Ormándi was not as skillful and couldn't finish it off. Mongol Uls almost scored after a swift counterattack 40 minutes into the game, but Chin Bekter put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. Magyarország's Dávid Antal took a knock to the head after 42 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He looked wobbly for a second, but eventually just laughed it off and continued playing. Mongol Uls were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from Arigh Arghun went into the arms of the keeper. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Magyarország enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

They were singing the praises of István Ormándi 61 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Magyarország. After 73 minutes, Magyarország began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. Suren Enkhbold hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Mongol Uls's Toghrul Jaran an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 1. Mongol Uls's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing Chin Bekter to score easily from the right flank for 1 - 2. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Magyarország, with 69 percent of the ball.

Kálmán Csaplár-Nagy performed admirably for Magyarország. On the other hand, Bence Kárpáti's play was disheartening. Mongol Uls's top performer was clearly Chin Bekter. However, Suren Enkhbold made a disastrous appearance.
