A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 24675 to The Fortress. Bengt Terkelsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ruggiero Presutti and Harm-Jan van Barneveld. The weather was sunny, which meant perfect conditions for technical players in both teams. However, it was also quite warm, which meant quick or physically strong players were drained faster and couldn't play their best game. Lineup: Supit - Kalijaga, Celbi, Guchi, Ardianto - Suhud, Amin, Bodi, Fikri, Tamani - Ferial.

The following players took the field: Meng - Pichenda, Khouerth, Saman, Kanyanith, Voeum - Mic, Duong, Suon - Nak, Som.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-5-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for 5-3-2. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for U-20 Prateh Kampuchea on this day, taking advantage of their world class level with that tactic. Teguh Ardianto got left behind when U-20 Prateh Kampuchea's Van Nak left scorch marks in the turf 5 minutes, finishing off with a blisteringly swift strike. 0-1! U-20 Prateh Kampuchea caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 13 minutes into the match. Oum Suon was able to finish off the move - 0 - 2. The corner kick from Fajri Fikri was powerfully met by the head of Akhir Bodi to make the score 1 - 2. After 30 minutes, U-20 Indonesia switched Ngarno Kalijaga with I Made Prowanda, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Having just won a lot of ground following a quick turn of play, U-20 Prateh Kampuchea were given a free kick at a sharp angle. Rather than going for the direct shot, the defence was bypassed by a few sideways passes, giving Oudom Kanyanith the chance to slip through at goal. Nice teamwork! And 1 - 3, 35 minutes into the game. With the scoreboard showing that 37 minutes had been played, U-20 Prateh Kampuchea nearly put themselves up another goal after Mao Som came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Chankrisna Saman looked like he could fly, as he rose high to head the ball. Unfortunately for U-20 Prateh Kampuchea, the ball went just barely wide. The counterattacks of U-20 Prateh Kampuchea were deadly and 41 minutes into the game, Chhaya Mic received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 1 - 4. 1 - 4 was the score after the first half. U-20 Indonesia claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

After 46 minutes, U-20 Indonesia used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. The U-20 Prateh Kampuchea players could smell victory in the air. Mao Som wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Chanda Vah after 46 minutes. With 52 minutes played, U-20 Prateh Kampuchea put themselves up 1 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Van Nak. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, U-20 Indonesia's I Made Prowanda was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes. Charlie Fadli was given a chance to change things around. The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes passed U-20 Indonesia's coach gave Bambang Frank the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Prasetyo Amin reluctantly left the field. After 68 minutes, U-20 Indonesia sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Naldi Ferial, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 2 - 5. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Teguh Ardianto from U-20 Indonesia a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 69 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 78 minutes into the match, U-20 Indonesia's Naldi Ferial collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 3 - 5. The home crowd was not impressed when Oum Suon came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 79 minutes. U-20 Prateh Kampuchea were now up 3 - 6. Sothy Khouerth left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 89 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Sotha Van was the replacement. Content with how the game was proceeding, the U-20 Prateh Kampuchea coach let Yok-Seng Muy replace Oudom Kanyanith after 89 minutes. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 3 - 6. U-20 Prateh Kampuchea enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

U-20 Indonesia's best player was Charlie Fadli. Rinto Supit was a disappointment, however. U-20 Prateh Kampuchea's top performer was clearly Chanda Vah. Sotha Van on the other hand, had a terrible day.
