Bilardo 7 - 0 Azules

Having looked forward to this game all week, it was quite a disappointment for the Bilardo players when their scheduled opponents did not show up. But the groundskeeper called some friends over for a game instead. Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 1073 to Arquitecto Ricardo Etcheverri. Ignacio Lesaca was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jonathan Casabal and Tzachi Margalit. The match took place on neutral ground. The following players took the field: Barnett - Molnár, Aribau, Dorregaray - Jakarić, Bozóky, Papalia, Peiteiros, Candia - Heiling, Aristimuño.

Lineup: Bestar - Poissonneau, Torres, Olofsson, Corrigan - Baquedano, Otero, Tripiciano, García López - Montes de Oca, De Paoli.

Perdón Bilardo fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Azules con la Mano, the formation of choice was 4-4-2. Bilardo's Nick Barnett startled Juan Ramón Aristimuño with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal. Péter Bozóky caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 25 minutes. This gave Bilardo the 1 - 0 lead. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Bilardo's Juan Ramón Aristimuño increasing the lead to 2 - 0. 32 minutes into the game, Azules seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid level of organisation. 34 minutes into the game, Azules seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Bilardo to 3 - 0 as Juan Ramón Aristimuño finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Bilardo's Juan Ramón Aristimuño increased the lead to 4 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 38 minutes. By then Juan Ramón Aristimuño had scored three goals - a hat trick! Bilardo's Juan Luis Aribau got himself booked for a foul. After 39 minutes, Carlos Daniel Poissonneau suffered a slight injury to his right calf muscle. However, it was not enough to stop him from continuing the game. After 40 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Azules found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to poor. After 42 minutes, Bilardo sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Michele Papalia, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 5 - 0. Halftime score was 5 - 0. Bilardo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 81 percent of possession.

The Azules players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a passable organisation when the game started again. Bilardo managed to extend their lead to 6 - 0 when Mihály Molnár cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. 54 minutes in, Azules appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. With 56 minutes played, Bilardo put themselves up 7 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Michele Papalia, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The coach of Bilardo was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 76 minutes, Pehuén Natalutti came on for Péter Bozóky. 79 minutes into the game, Bilardo had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to poor. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 7 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Bilardo, with 83 percent of the ball.

Most important Bilardo player was Michele Papalia. Samuel Dorregaray on the other hand, had a terrible day. Ariel Arnaldo De Paoli performed admirably for Azules. Stig Olofsson was a disappointment, however.
