The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 1007 had shown up at Niddaseearena for the match. João de Sousa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Giovanni D'Avack and Lorenzo Brazof. The following players had been chosen: Mochinger - Weitzmann, Baehr, Järnecke, Godelheim, Kanngießer - Blitz, Retzlaff, Pollwitten, Erfurt - Schauz.

Starters: Schlicht - Gössling-Kehl, Sielstrang, Zender - Becker-Gotkowski, Catti, do Carmo Luiz, Löwenstein, Chikawe - Grosso, Aumüller.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 5-4-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-5-2. It was an obvious ambition of Vogelsberg to use their brilliant ability at attacking on the flanks. Players in Vogelsberg heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Vogelsberg took the lead after 4 minutes as a result of Johannes Pollwitten's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. With 25 minutes gone, Vogelsberg had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, Volkhardt Kanngießer did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. 28 minutes in, Vogelsberg's Hennes Järnecke received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. A slight injury to his right calf muscle meant Wiljan Löwenstein had to leave the match early. It happened after 29 minutes. The replacement for the injured player was Filiberto Galán. With 34 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, August-Peter Weitzmann needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Vogelsberg's Wolfgang Schauz swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Vogelsberg enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

It was obvious that Vogelsberg had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. The home side's August-Peter Weitzmann came close to extending the lead 49 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but Rolf Schlicht managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 57 minutes, Vogelsberg did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, Niels Erfurt was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0. Reinhart Mochinger wanted to play on, but the Vogelsberg coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 58 minutes into the game by Tomke Gondosch. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Vogelsberg, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Vogelsberg to 3 - 0 as Wolfgang Schauz finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Vogelsberg scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for August-Peter Weitzmann after 81 minutes. Vogelsberg's David Godelheim got himself booked for a foul. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 4 - 0. Vogelsberg had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

The most dominating Vogelsberg player was without a doubt Johannes Pollwitten. Daniel Baehr turned in a dismal performance, however. Liberty's top performer was clearly César Roberto Grosso. Kléber do Carmo Luiz on the other hand, had a terrible day.
