A.S.A. 1 - 5 FCD

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 27209 at Victoria today. Timotheus Nienberge was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Yury Chepul and Arys Iljetis. Starters: Halic - Terrin, Devos, Borruey - Lanfredi, Petrea, Constantin, Szabó, Ciorbă - Makarevich, Acevedo.

The following players had been chosen: Atıf - Stogianov, Cirţ - Pérez, Ticozzi, Cian, Popescu, Crezee - Rahal, Preis, Sobolak.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team A.S.A. Turda went for 3-5-2 while FCDinamo 1948 has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. FCD demonstrated their titanic creative tactics on the field. The corner kick from Cristian Cian was powerfully met by the head of Remus Popescu to make the score 0 - 1. A.S.A.'s Zeno Terrin was shown a yellow card after 28 minutes for slicing down an opponent. FCD increased the lead to 0 - 2 as Cristian Cian scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. It took several tries, but A.S.A. managed to break through on the left after 40 minutes, getting the ball to Mykola Makarevich who easily reduced the lead to make the score 1 - 2. After 42 minutes, FCD were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. Ryszard Sobolak did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Rafael Ciorbă was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but Tullio Lanfredi seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. With 43 minutes played, Filip Preis of FCD fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Luis Miguel Acevedo from A.S.A. a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 44 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 44 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as Ryszard Sobolak finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. 44 minutes in, A.S.A.'s Silviu Petrea received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 1 - 3 was the score after the first half. FCD enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

Filip Preis was, after 68 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Cristian-Radu Halic made the save. A.S.A.'s opponents know to be wary of László Szabó's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 73 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! A.S.A.'s Rafael Ciorbă managed a superb strike from the left after 76 minutes that would have left goalkeeper Bircan Atıf without a chance, had it not hit the post. Filip Preis received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 80 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 4. The FCD fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Soufiane Rahal shows no mercy as he runs straight at the A.S.A. playmaker, then stumbling through the ensuing mess with the ball and scoring for FCD. That's 1-5 from the power forward, 90 minutes in! The match ends 1 - 5. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by FCD, with 57 percent of the ball.

A.S.A.'s best player was Luis Miguel Acevedo. However, Cristian-Radu Halic made a disastrous appearance. Ryszard Sobolak performed admirably for FCD. Joseph Pérez was a disappointment, however.
