Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 58494 to Wire stadium. Joan Gost was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Anton Fagerroos and Miljan Gagić. The following players had been chosen: Leprince - Devizzi, Scuppa, Golfín - Sima, Michel, Wansch-Schuster, Klvaňa - Slanina, Jelínek, Kafka.

Starters: Krúpa - Cankılıç, Scerri, Koniarz - Egbuniwe, Unwerth, Trishechkin, Meyer, Tal - Simões, Vaz.

FC Prague Slivers entered the field in a 3-4-3 formation. The visitors, VESNIČANI, chose to start the game with a 3-5-2 lineup. Cedric Wansch-Schuster rose like a salmon, and was very close to scoring with a header after a corner, but sent the ball just over the bar. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Jerome Egbuniwe slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against Jean Leprince, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. It was a fine day for Jaroslav Klvaňa on his wing, his cross pass to Éric Michel was especially delicate 23 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. After 29 minutes, VESNIČANI were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. Jerome Egbuniwe did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to VESNIČANI, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

50 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Slivers substitution. Radek Smrčka came on for Rastislav 'Messi' Jelínek. Paolo Scuppa became the new Slivers captain. Vladimír Kafka would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Zdeněk Hanousek entered the game for Slivers as the match clock showed 50 minutes. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of VESNIČANI's Pelaxio Vaz after 54 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. Following a collision in the 67, VESNIČANI's Sergey Trishechkin complained of a damaged shoulder. Eventually, he forced himself to continue the match anyway. Some fine movement on the left led to a VESNIČANI goal after 72 minutes, making it 0 - 2. Pelaxio Vaz was noted down as the scorer. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Slivers's Lukáš Slanina was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 72 minutes. Jiří Kostelník was given a chance to change things around. With 80 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Ernst Meyer of VESNIČANI to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. Zdeněk Hanousek was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 83 minutes, with his right thigh bandaged. Slivers had no available replacements, leaving the team a man short. Content with how the game was proceeding, the VESNIČANI coach let Karl Strukbach replace Fernando Simões after 85 minutes. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 0 - 3. VESNIČANI had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

The most dominating Slivers player was without a doubt Radek Smrčka. Jaroslav Klvaňa turned in a dismal performance, however. Laurens Unwerth performed admirably for VESNIČANI. However, Jerome Egbuniwe made a disastrous appearance.
