STEAUA 0 - 6 FCD

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 8227 had shown up at kgbistii for the match. Timmu Narusk was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Maxim Breg and Ricky van Zorg. The following players had been chosen: Miclăuş - Rumega, Viaene, Chris, Barbá, Ardalionov - Gligore, Flejszer, Gănciulescu - Michalczyk, Vuotila.

Starters: Atıf - Stogianov, Cirţ - Crezee, Popescu, Cian, Calzolari, Leitão - Eliüstün, Preis, Stăncilă.

FCSB = STEAUA fielded a 5-3-2 lineup. For FCDinamo 1948, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of STEAUA, taking advantage of their outstanding level with that tactic. FCD demonstrated their magnificent creative tactics on the field. FCD took the lead 13 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. Alexandru Stăncilă was the scorer. The referee showed FCD's Cristian Cian the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 21 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Filip Preis who increased FCD's lead to 0 - 2. With 35 minutes played, FCD put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Filip Preis. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Filip Preis got himself booked. The manager of FCD was not happy. 40 minutes in, STEAUA appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. With 41 minutes played, Alexandru Stăncilă of FCD fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Filip Preis of FCD took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 42 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 4. At that, Filip Preis was noted down for a hat trick! It was 0 - 4 at the break. FCD claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of STEAUA was able to get his message across, and raised STEAUA's organisation to solid. FCD's Hugo Crezee made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 48 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. After 56 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as STEAUA found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. The visitors' Vefa Eliüstün took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 57 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for FCD. Eugen Miclăuş got a fingertip on Cristian Cian's shot from the left 58 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. 65 minutes into the game, STEAUA seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. After 66 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Cipriano Leitão a chance to increase the lead for FCD, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 6. Possession in this half belonged to FCD, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.

Marian Michalczyk performed admirably for STEAUA. On the other hand, Gregory Viaene's play was disheartening. The most dominating FCD player was without a doubt Filip Preis. Cipriano Leitão was a disappointment, however.
