Dark skies made the crowd of 5786 at Garlitos a little nervous, but the rain held off. 张 (Zhang) 昌 (Chang) was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Natanael Capria and Mirosław Sas. Starters: Kelayeh - Arponen, Moreira, La Fauce, Rouget, Oldendorf - Taffarel, Toivanen, Velar, Picollà, Nie Su -.

The following players had been chosen: Mpezas - Basora, Barton, Elbæk, Neal, Cavy - Bello, Steward, Vartak - Aldini, Izzi.

Zafreño started the game in a 5-5-0 formation, whereas Dark Thunder lined up in a 5-3-2 formation. Zafreño immediately set off using their formidable skill at pressing their opponents. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Thunder, taking advantage of their titanic level with that tactic. 2 minutes in, Thunder appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only poor. 20 minutes into the game, Thunder seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a wretched level of organisation. Zafreño pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. 37 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Zafreño to take the lead after a good cross from the right found Lenni 'Hinojo' Toivanen alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. With 38 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Thunder resulted in a counterattack that set Josuè Basora free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Thomas 'Guindilla' La Fauce went down after twisting his left ankle in minute 39, but was able to continue the match none the less. 43 minutes in, the referee awarded Zafreño a penalty. Sérgio 'Vainilla' Taffarel coolly slotted it home for a 1 - 0 lead. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Zafreño, who controlled the ball 85 percent of the time.

During the break, Thunder's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to inadequate organisation. The pressing tactics used by Zafreño were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Good work by the Thunder defensive line after 78 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found Matias Elbæk alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. Lenni 'Hinojo' Toivanen hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Zafreño's Tuomas 'Pimentón' Arponen an easy chance to knock it in for 2 - 0. At this time in the match, Zafreño were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. While defending the Zafreño lead, Tuomas 'Pimentón' Arponen got a new role. 88 minutes in the game, his coach ordered him to change positions with Sérgio 'Vainilla' Taffarel. As the match clock hit 88 minutes, Zafreño regrouped to try and keep their initiative in the game. Ringo 'Pimienta Negra' Oldendorf high-fived Phang 'Mostaza' Nie Su as they swapped positions on the team. Encouraged by their lead, after 89 minutes the Zafreño coach asked Hugo 'Cayena' Moreira to change positions with Lenni 'Hinojo' Toivanen. After 89 minutes, Zafreño felt secure enough to make a tactical change. Thomas 'Guindilla' La Fauce and Diego 'Cilantro' Velar assumed each others positions on the field. Still ahead in the game after 89 minutes, Zafreño made some tactical adjustments. Jean 'Azafrán' Rouget and Francesc 'Estragón' Picollà swapped positions. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 2 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Zafreño, with 82 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Zafreño player was without a doubt Hami Kelayeh. Hugo 'Cayena' Moreira was a disappointment, however. Thunder's top performer was clearly Josuè Basora. Lucky Bello turned in a dismal performance, however.
