Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 12000 at debsmen Arena today. Gosho Petkov was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Stéphane Lussier and Jone Brataas. Lineup: Delaney - Berrett, Formby, Warnock, Gobbett - Clark, Simonsen, Smith, Foster - Weston, Featherstone.

The following players took the field: Looney - Muhammad, Baber, Mclean, Brown - Soley, Hann, Spencer, Siggins - Ashern, Sheppard.

As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 4-4-2 formation. debsmen had a good opportunity to take the lead as Victor Clark came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of John Looney. 27 minutes in, debsmen's Marlon Smith received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. debsmen's Jeremy Foster had a good first touch on the flank, but was crowded and, after a change of plan, sent the ball to Victor Clark who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. With 32 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as Will Simonsen flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Zachariah Weston should probably have put his team up another goal after 34 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by John Looney kept the visitors in the game. After 35 minutes, the defensive line of Phoenix created a counterattack through the middle that gave Davie Ashern a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. 37 minutes into the game Phoenix's Davie Ashern found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Victor Clark twisted his arm after 38 minutes, forcing debsmen to make a substitution. This gave Allan Appleby a chance to take to the field instead. debsmen took the lead 41 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as Michael Featherstone elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. debsmen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.

debsmen managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when Andrew Berrett cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in debsmen's Christian Warnock increasing the lead to 4 - 1. With 74 minutes played, Michael Featherstone could have brought this one home for debsmen as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Phoenix's Bert Siggins was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - Davie Ashern managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 4 - 2 after 86 minutes. Zachariah Weston had a fantastic opportunity to put debsmen up another goal 87 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 4 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by debsmen, with 63 percent of the ball.

debsmen's best player was Allan Appleby. Francis Delaney on the other hand, had a terrible day. Phoenix's top performer was clearly Robert Sheppard. John Looney turned in a dismal performance, however.
