It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 4149 that came out to Stade Olympique. Hugo Back was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Sybrand Ernste and . A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Olympique. They fielded: Pelliccia - Nolè, Schaffner, Capeder - Merten, Puma, Hardmeier, Anken, Kloppenstein - Everbom, Raga.

Rothosen decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Haueslmeier - Wittmaack, Muenzer, Ulre - Andreesen, Wallek, Briegler, Primozich, Schrödl - Valiani, Skoufos.

Some great play up the middle by Olympique led to a chance for Armando Hardmeier to score after 27 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Olympique could have put themselves ahead after 32 minutes but Silvan Merten missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. The crowd gasped as Heinrich 'Katze' Haueslmeier of Rothosen was flattened by an opponent after 37 minutes and had to be carried off. Niklas Louis 'Titan' Kegler came in off the bench. 41 minutes into the game, Flavio Valiani was a hair's breadth away from giving Rothosen the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by Angelo Pelliccia saved the home team that time. Many thought Sergio Raga ought to have been awarded a penalty 42 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Niklas Louis 'Titan' Kegler after a determined run through the middle. The guests took the lead 44 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in Moritz Wallek scoring to make it 0 - 1. Olympique's Gilles Schaffner was shown a yellow card after 44 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rothosen, with 53 percent of the ball.

It wasn't a good day at all for Gaetano 'Gates' Nolè. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. Rothosen increased their lead after 54 minutes when Gianrico Primozich broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. The intense heat forced Étienne Schrödl into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others. With the scoreboard showing that 57 minutes had been played, Rothosen nearly put themselves up another goal after Étienne Schrödl came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. The coach of Rothosen was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes, Jaroslav Smutniak came on for Micha Andreesen. Mathias Briegler wanted to play on, but the Rothosen coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 65 minutes into the game by Arnaldo Charro. Angelo Pelliccia kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when Claas Wittmaack delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Olympique's Sergio Raga was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes. Ameer Raed was given a chance to change things around. Rothosen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Gaetano 'Gates' Nolè performed admirably for Olympique. However, Luis 'Kloppo' Kloppenstein made a disastrous appearance. Most important Rothosen player was Flavio Valiani. On the other hand, Niklas Louis 'Titan' Kegler's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 2.
