Galway 4 - 0 DS

2684 spectators arrived at KENNY DALGLISH STADIUM, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Yury Uzhinskiy and . The match took place on neutral ground. Galway started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Ignacewski - Tassili, Jacak, Donoghue - Velasco Gascón, ó Braonáin, Clinton, Mac Brádaigh, Fallon - Torales, Lopes Costa.

DS decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Fusco - Kiekut, Habib, Feuerbach - Matzler, Lebender, Laubert, Rebstock, Lazarević - Hudekamp, Al-Shamsi.

DS clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their solid level with that tactic. Galway took the lead after 2 minutes as a result of Abdelqayyoum Tassili's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. After 7 minutes Galway's Mark 'The Cigar' Clinton limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Aníbal Torales increased the lead for Galway to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Coming from the right, Aníbal Torales almost managed to score another goal for Galway, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. 35 minutes in, DS appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only passable. 42 minutes into the match, Galway's Francisco Lopes Costa demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to Aníbal Torales who chipped it in for 3 - 0. Halftime score was 3 - 0. Galway had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped DS get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Galway managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when Francisco Lopes Costa cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Galway lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Felipe Velasco Gascón of Galway was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Mark 'Dull Boy' Fallon could have increased the lead after 80 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. DS had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 81 minutes, but Falko Matzler's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. Galway claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.

The most dominating Galway player was without a doubt Bartłomiej 'Metalhead' Jacak. Aníbal Torales turned in a dismal performance, however. DS's top performer was clearly Hani Al-Shamsi. Nikola Lazarević was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 0.
