Starlet 2 - 0 Belp

Clouds darkened the skies at Bråten Park as 2597 spectators turned up for the match. Peter Michael Peitzsch was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and José Desgastell. The match took place on neutral ground. A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Starlet. The following players had been chosen: Accettola - Fister, Pérez, Lozhnikov, Kielmanssegg, Dönmez - Ronchetti, Kellerer, Pech, Kiszka - Bonilla.

Belp had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Lineup: Mathiassen - Cucca, Poldelmengo, Lysko, Lohrentz, Rutten - Marful, Seyran, Le Gall, Wiktorski - Molaro.

Slack defending gave Starlet a chance to take the lead with 7 minutes played, but Sonner Bonilla's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. A foul called during a Belp counterattack resulted in a great chance to score, but Aldo Angelo Molaro's shot rattled off the post. Filipp Lozhnikov received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 13 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. Mykola Kucherenko was called on to replace Starlet's Ziya Dönmez after 21 minutes following a nasty collision. Some great play up the middle by Starlet led to a chance for Barnaba Ronchetti to score after 22 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. After a fine move down the middle Sonner Bonilla nearly gave the home side a goal after 40 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Belp's Alessandro Poldelmengo was shown a yellow card after 41 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Making his way up the middle 43 minutes into the match, Söhnke Kielmanssegg almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert Jens Mathiassen blocked it to keep the score level. It was 0 - 0 at the break. Starlet claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 73 percent.

Starlet had a good opportunity to take the lead as Krzysztof Kiszka came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Jens Mathiassen. Belp were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from Aldo Angelo Molaro went into the arms of the keeper. 55 minutes into the game, Belp wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Jens Mathiassen gave Eike Strieder a quick hug as he left the field. After 55 minutes, Barnaba Ronchetti came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Starlet the lead. Starlet's Constantin Pech swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. With 66 minutes played, the Belp coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Cristian-Mircea Dascălu came on, Damien Le Gall had to leave the fray. Cristian-Mircea Dascălu was handed the Belp captain's armband. Cheers filled the stadium as Sonner Bonilla broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Starlet. Sonner Bonilla should probably have put his team up another goal after 71 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Eike Strieder kept the visitors in the game. Belp needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 74 minutes Aldo Angelo Molaro made way for Vince Frigyes. Aldo Angelo Molaro was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that Strzeżysław Wiktorski got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. Starlet had most of the ball, with 73 percent of possession.

Most important Starlet player was Sonner Bonilla. On the other hand, Söhnke Kielmanssegg's play was disheartening. Vince Frigyes performed admirably for Belp. Eike Strieder turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
