It had rained all day, but 2907 hardy fans still made it out to Segmon BK Arena. Stanisław Kruk was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Erick Lindemulder and Pantaleo Agasucci. The match took place on neutral ground. Open had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Perrella - Dikmen, Lecca, Fouchard - Hundertwasser, Jurac, Lott, Ritsch, Nenning - Rutzen, Merrien.

Ferdinandshof decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Le Bras - Szybkowski, O'Hara, Caudal - Bilzer, Bockelberg, Beckenbauer, Vagasky, Zaruba - Khvoynitskiy, Freller.

Open were mostly trying to use their extra-terrestrial skill at attacking on the flanks. Albuin Bilzer had a good opportunity to give Ferdinandshof the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. After 18 minutes, Ferdinandshof put themselves up 0 - 1, as Eduardt Freller finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. With 19 minutes played, Ferdinandshof put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Eduardt Freller. Albuin Bilzer of Ferdinandshof took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 20 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3. David O'Hara was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! 36 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as Jarosław Szybkowski finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Ferdinandshof lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. It was 0 - 4 at the break. Ferdinandshof enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

Attacking on the wings was the choice for Open, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. Open's Louis Rutzen found himself alone on the left side 62 minutes into the match and laid down a perfect shot - right into the arms of the keeper! Some fine movement on the left led to a Ferdinandshof goal after 64 minutes, making it 0 - 5. Kévin Caudal was noted down as the scorer. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Open's Alexandre Merrien was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 65 minutes. Robert Soland was given a chance to change things around. After 65 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Eduardt Freller a chance to increase the lead for Ferdinandshof, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. That made three goals for Eduardt Freller and he was marked down for the hat trick. Luis Eduardo Pereira was called on to replace Ferdinandshof's Albuin Bilzer after 66 minutes following a nasty collision. David O'Hara was the new captain of Ferdinandshof - handed the armband by the departing player. Eduardt Freller received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 69 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 7. The Ferdinandshof fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The bench was restless, and with 70 minutes passed Open's coach gave Nando Duss the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Silas Ritsch reluctantly left the field. Yury Khvoynitskiy had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today. After 75 minutes, Open switched Micha Nenning with Ingo Petermeier, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 76 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Ferdinandshof's Franz 'Kaiser' Beckenbauer to one side and produced a red card for the player. With 79 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Eduardt Freller of Ferdinandshof to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 8. Ferdinandshof made it 0 - 9 as Martin Alexander Zaruba got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to Yury Khvoynitskiy who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Possession in this half belonged to Ferdinandshof, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.

Most important Open player was Mile Jurac. On the other hand, Robert Soland's play was disheartening. The most dominating Ferdinandshof player was without a doubt Eduardt Freller. Luis Eduardo Pereira on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 9.
