The 2007 fans in attendance at Kölsche arena were roasting in the hot sun. Jean-Paul Töpfer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Luca Micu and . Lattenkracher decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Spät - Partein, Gehringer, Leubel - Hoke, Gerhards, Kicker, Augustiner, Evert - Timushev, Schemmann.

Liekedeeler tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. Lineup: Szabó - Eistert, Weigand - Zappel, Ahrendt, Hirschbuechler, Rammelsberger, Leier - Mândruşcă, Balle, Wienrich.

Lattenkracher created a good opportunity to score 9 minutes into the match when Mikhail Timushev's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Liekedeeler's Charles 'Schnucki' Hirschbuechler after 12 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. The crowd roared in delight as Andi Leubel finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Lattenkracher 27 minutes into the match. 1 - 1. With 32 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 2 - 1 lead as Eddy Gehringer flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. After 38 minutes Lattenkracher's Andi Leubel contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. The corner kick from Malte Kicker was powerfully met by the head of Edmond Schemmann to make the score 3 - 1. Confident in their lead, Lattenkracher's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Halftime score was 3 - 1. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

Lattenkracher's Jens Evert left the field after 63 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Kevin Purps. Mikhail Timushev should probably have put his team up another goal after 68 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Dávid Szabó kept the visitors in the game. With 71 minutes played, Cătălin Mândruşcă had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle flew harmlessly wide of the goal. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Malte Kicker from Lattenkracher a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 77 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Kevin Purps could have put Lattenkracher up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 80 minutes. Liekedeeler reduced the lead after 81 minutes to 3 - 2 as Henry Balle easily chipped the ball past the home side's keeper after a dazzling play from the right. The home side's Mikhail Timushev came close to extending the lead 82 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but Dávid Szabó managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile Henry Balle. The bench was restless, and with 89 minutes passed Liekedeeler's coach gave Boris Shtrakov the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Dávid Szabó reluctantly left the field. Liekedeeler claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Mikhail Timushev performed admirably for Lattenkracher. Kevin Purps was a disappointment, however. Liekedeeler's best player was Cătălin Mândruşcă. However, Boris Shtrakov made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 2.
