Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 1211 to Constablerwache. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Anselmo Javali and Adolfo Carrapatoso. The match took place on neutral ground. Waldhof tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players took the field: Gollinger - Beissner, Gérard, Garza, Pergler - Kleinschmit, Wollinger, Sutter, Manci, Mitręga - Călin.

RutWiess decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. They fielded: Størdal - Randall, Traenkl - Piatas, Schmelzer, Lohmann, Staretz-Suchacek, Kathmann - Berndl, Basenkov, Zedlitz.

A well placed corner kick from Oliver Sutter was followed by Cosmin-Daniel Călin's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Waldhof, the score now 1 - 0. Rubén Garza had a fantastic opportunity to put Waldhof up another goal 3 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. 5 minutes in, Waldhof's Oliver Sutter received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. With 8 minutes played, Felix Joshua Kleinschmit could have brought this one home for Waldhof as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Waldhof's Lucas Gérard swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. Waldhof put themselves up 2 - 0 when Cosmin-Daniel Călin broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. 20 minutes into the game, Waldhof had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. Against a lesser team, Waldhof could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 31 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. RutWiess's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing Burkhart Traenkl to score easily from the right flank for 2 - 1. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Andreas Staretz-Suchacek got himself booked. The manager of RutWiess was not happy. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. Waldhof enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped Waldhof get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Felix Joshua Kleinschmit increased the lead for Waldhof to 3 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Mścibor Mitręga left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 72 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Hans-Rolf Waldenburg was the replacement. Confident in their lead, Waldhof's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Cornelius Schmelzer of RutWiess received a yellow card after 74 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Waldhof coach let Karlheinrich Klempau replace Cosmin-Daniel Călin after 78 minutes. After 85 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Waldhof found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 86 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but Birger Størdal got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar. Possession in this half belonged to Waldhof, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

Tobias Wollinger performed admirably for Waldhof. However, Oliver Sutter made a disastrous appearance. RutWiess's top performer was clearly Timofey Basenkov. Burkhart Traenkl was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
