2428 punters turned up at The Devils Pit, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Arto Koivisto was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Grga Đipalo and Philip Laufer. The match took place on neutral ground. Meerbusch started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Fisher - Avesio, Raymi, Burley - Sawane, Baguecho, Kreisinger, Mattmann, Robertsson - Yahia, Shambrook.

A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Dautzsch. The following players took the field: Maravas - Tode-Predöhl, Haupenthal, Aulbach, Bielinski, Kowatsch - Ghiringhelli, Doellinger, Bünzow, Bitterle - Sams.

Dautzsch used their passable skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. Nathan Shambrook hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Meerbusch's Sanokho Sawane an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 0. With 19 minutes played, Meerbusch's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to Sanokho Sawane he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 0. Meerbusch solidified their lead at the 27 minute mark, as George Burley dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. With 37 minutes played, Meerbusch's Nathan Shambrook almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Cheers filled the stadium as Nathan Shambrook broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to Meerbusch. It was 4 - 0 at the break. Meerbusch had most of the ball, with 74 percent of possession.

Meerbusch's Juselino Raymi saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 53 minutes. 60 minutes in, Meerbusch's George Burley received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The corner kick from Martin Kreisinger was powerfully met by the head of Juselino Raymi to make the score 5 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of Meerbusch were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Martin Kreisinger should probably have put his team up another goal after 73 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Nikolaos Maravas kept the visitors in the game. The pressing tactics used by Dautzsch were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Possession in this half belonged to Meerbusch, who controlled the ball 75 percent of the time.

Meerbusch's top performer was clearly Najib Yahia. George Burley turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Dautzsch player was Nikolaos Maravas. Chris Bünzow on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 0.
