1197 spectators had found their way to Dynamo Rote Rübe Arena, despite the heavy rain. Filip Bortoluzzi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jajá Pacheco and . The match took place on neutral ground. Rothosen started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Kegler - Ulre, Muenzer, Wittmaack - Smutniak, Wallek, Briegler, Primozich, Schrödl - Valiani, Skoufos.

A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Hackedicht. The following players took the field: Timmerman - Insignares, Papenfuss, Vento, Mierzwa, Juanals - Krinke, Flak, Rahn - Ødegård, Tagge.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Hackedicht on this day, taking advantage of their extra-terrestrial level with that tactic. 9 minutes into the game, Hackedicht had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to solid. With the clock showing 17 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Hackedicht resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Rüdiger Krinke in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Rothosen's Felix Ulre was shown a yellow card after 21 minutes for slicing down an opponent. It was a bad day for the usually speedy Felix Ulre. The mud seemed to slow him down. 34 minutes into the game Hackedicht managed a counterattack, but Jairo Insignares took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. 38 minutes in, Rothosen's Claas Wittmaack received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Rothosen were awarded a penalty 39 minutes into the game but Claas Wittmaack produced a poor shot, quite easily saved by Gelwin Timmerman. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rothosen, with 75 percent of the ball.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Hackedicht had excellent organisation. 60 minutes into the game, Rothosen wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Niklas Louis 'Titan' Kegler gave Heinrich 'Katze' Haueslmeier a quick hug as he left the field. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Rothosen substitution. Micha Andreesen came on for Jaroslav Smutniak. With 65 minutes gone, Karl-Aksel Ødegård suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Hackedicht caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. Down the middle came Karl-Aksel Ødegård, making a fantastic play that nearly had Hackedicht take the lead after 73 minutes, but Heinrich 'Katze' Haueslmeier preserved the tie. Mathias Briegler would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Arnaldo Charro entered the game for Rothosen as the match clock showed 75 minutes. With 83 minutes of the game having been played, Étienne Schrödl received a blow to the hip in a collision and was unable to continue. Rothosen, with no available replacements, now faced the prospect of finishing the game with a reduced number of players. Hackedicht mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 85 minutes, but Karl-Aksel Ødegård was unable to convert from short range. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like Yiorgos Skoufos. Hackedicht almost scored after a swift counterattack 88 minutes into the game, but Teodósio Vento put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. Rothosen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.

Rothosen's best player was Flavio Valiani. Felix Ulre turned in a dismal performance, however. Hackedicht's top performer was clearly Richard Tagge. However, Helmut 'Der Boss' Rahn made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 0.
