SCS 7 - 1 The kiwis

A scorching day at Old Trafford, where 3230 spectators were in place for today's match. José Morillon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Herbert König and Anže Žeželj. The match took place on neutral ground. SCS tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Volarević - Ollonen, Giry, Hammer - Manzano, Schwendner, Gayrat Uulu, Hadad, Olsson - Sternschanze, Polunin.

The kiwis had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Sesamo - Aquilone, Arrufat - Ringelnatz, Mezey, Aventuroso, Wietecha, Naić - Faya'a, Dittrich, Baryś.

It was an obvious ambition of The kiwis to use their extra-terrestrial ability at attacking on the flanks. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 17 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from Karsten Sternschanze, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. After 30 minutes, a long pass from The kiwis's Giannino Aquilone caught the defence out of position. Stephan Dittrich collected the ball, and with the goal at his mercy calmly rolled the ball just inside the post. 1 - 1. SCS took the lead after 33 minutes as a result of Mousa Hadad's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of SCS to 3 - 1 as Per Olsson finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. 41 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Miska Ollonen broke through, making the score 4 - 1 for SCS. The kiwis's Cucufato Arrufat got himself booked for a foul. Halftime score was 4 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to SCS, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

SCS increased the lead as Seytikul Gayrat Uulu struck to make the score 5 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. The players of SCS now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. The home side's Mousa Hadad curled a free kick home after 62 minutes, putting SCS ahead 6 - 1. The bench was restless, and with 70 minutes passed The kiwis's coach gave Renzo Hartert the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Stephan Dittrich reluctantly left the field. The The kiwis coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. SCS put themselves up 7 - 1 when Artem Polunin broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. The kiwis had a fair chance to reply after 74 minutes due to some fine moves down the left, but in the end Achim Ringelnatz was slow to keep up with the play and was unable to make it into the penalty box to apply a finish. Content with how the game was proceeding, the SCS coach let Jean-Jacques 'JJ.' Basset replace Karsten Sternschanze after 80 minutes. Arthur Giry enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. SCS put in a good effort on the right, but Artem Polunin saw his volley fly wide of the mark 87 minutes into the game. 88 minutes in, SCS's Artem Polunin received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. It wasn't a good day at all for Naseem Faya'a. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. SCS had most of the ball, with 67 percent of possession.

The most dominating SCS player was without a doubt Artem Polunin. Arthur Giry on the other hand, had a terrible day. Adalmasio Aventuroso performed admirably for The kiwis. Renzo Hartert was a disappointment, however. The match ends 7 - 1.
