Dark skies made the crowd of 2776 at Rheinpark Stadion a little nervous, but the rain held off. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and Tom Sandberg. The match took place on neutral ground. Viktoria had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Brömme - Aidelsburger, Pupačić, Zölzer - Baller, Kirmair, Peuker, Wiesmayr, Meckler - Rebel, Mutschall.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for FC SFBG. The following players had been chosen: Allig - Katrinec, Proença, Melazzini, Niesten - Bergmann, Achleitner, Parkes, Kist, Gibbons - Petersdorf.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for FC SFBG on this day, taking advantage of their extra-terrestrial level with that tactic. 4 minutes into the game, Dawson Gibbons almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. FC SFBG's counterattacks created a good chance for Jakob 'Schneckerl' Achleitner on the right after 15 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. FC SFBG's Matthias 'Zauberer' Petersdorf excelled in some fine tricks that completely confused Charles Kirmair - and the finish was no less spectacular - 0 - 1! With 37 minutes played, after a good run down the left, Thomas Rebel went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving. FC SFBG caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 41 minutes into the match. Angelantonio Melazzini was able to finish off the move - 0 - 2. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Viktoria enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

Matthias 'Zauberer' Petersdorf wanted to play on, but the FC SFBG coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by Claus Meier. Matthias 'Zauberer' Petersdorf was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that Küre Kist got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. The FC SFBG coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 46 minutes into the game. Ladislav Pupačić challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 49 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. FC SFBG's Dawson Gibbons had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 58 minutes having been played. Stefan Aschenbrenner was the replacement. Viktoria's Wernher Meckler could only shake his head after completely missing a penalty shot 73 minutes into the match. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from Küre Kist after 74 minutes, and prevented FC SFBG from going up another goal. With 75 minutes played, the Viktoria coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Nikita Shkirin came on, Robin Peuker had to leave the fray. After 77 minutes of game time, Claus Meier had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Martin Brömme was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. After 82 minutes, Rüdiger Mutschall had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Viktoria with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. FC SFBG's Charles Parkes was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 83 minutes. Viktoria claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Viktoria's best player was Thomas Rebel. However, Nikita Shkirin made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating FC SFBG player was without a doubt Jakob 'Schneckerl' Achleitner. Charles Parkes turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 2.
