1440 fans turned up at Nabão Stadium, and despite threatening clouds, no rain came. Tomas Wolters was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Janus Bruus and . Gentlemen prefer blondes and Sporting prefers a 4-4-2. Let's see how this plays out for them. They fielded: Ferrer - Fuks, Gábos, Colabella, Conceição - Catarino, Cabeda, Guerra, Ribeiro - Araújo, Robalo.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Pickwick will go to battle in a 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Scabbia - Casciano, Signorelli, Saracina, Flottwell - Ben-David, Silberschneider, Loscanna, Beccarini - Belgrano, De Milato.

K. Flottwell came close to putting the visiting team one up 22 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but R. Ferrer managed to tip the ball over. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 29 minutes into the match left Pickwick's F. Loscanna completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. With 37 minutes played, K. Flottwell nearly put the visitors up by one more as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot whizzed just over the bar. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Sporting had 54...54 percent possession. AH AH AH!

Sporting needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes P. Catarino made way for J. Gomes. As the captain was no longer on the field, R. Ribeiro took over the role for Sporting. The Pickwick coach was happy with the scoreline, but still wanted to change the lineup. After 46 minutes, D. Bottecchia came on for C. Beccarini. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Pickwick coach let I. Thomassen come on for G. Belgrano after 46 minutes. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Sporting's L. Fuks was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 55 minutes. C. Lamúrias was given a chance to change things around. The crowd chanted their encouragement as Sporting's J. Gomes came in from the right after 58 minutes and put the ball in the net to even the score at 1 - 1. After 58 minutes, the Pickwick coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving P. Scabbia off. J. Antonsson took his place. The visitors would have taken the lead from a free kick in minute 59 were it not for the jaw-dropping save by R. Ferrer. Pickwick took the lead after 61 minutes making the score 1 - 2. The keeper had no chance on M. Ben-David's fine volley after a cross from the left. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Sporting's T. Colabella finally got himself booked for a foul. Everyone had expected a shot from the free kick 79 minutes into the game, but Sporting sent the ball sideways instead, giving J. Cabeda a clear look at goal with no wall in his way. He sent it through the keeper's legs for 2 - 2! 81 minutes into the game, M. Ben-David had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Sporting would have 57 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Sporting's best player was R. Ribeiro. Good thing J. Cabeda isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. G. De Milato performed admirably for Pickwick. I can't remember I. Casciano ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 2 - 2.
