Calculation of the (new) wages

Early this season wages were revised downward, the equivalency we knew before for each level of each skill are therefore not accurate anymore. You will find here the new values of wages and some tools to calculate the salary.

The calculation of the wage is certainly essential that every manager can control his payroll, to predict the wage increase and not fall into the trap of training a skill too far. Also, knowing how to calculate the wages will help us to evaluate other teams’ players, solely based on knowledge of the wage.

This is a translation of the article “Calcul du salaire des joueurs(13741), written by psinit (297282) in French.

First I’ll do a review of the calculation of the wages and after that I’ll explain the method used to collect data. In the end, the results will be presented, also adding two tools that will help us calculating the wages and evaluating other players’ skills.

Calculation of the wage

Until the beginning of this season, the calculation of the wage was done by adding up the cost in terms of wage for each skill to the minimum wage of 250 €. For example, a player having WorldClass (13) Playmaking and Brilliant (11) Defending had a salary equal to the cumulative wages of two monoskill players: one WorldClass Playmaking and one Brilliant Defending (plus the minimum wage of 250 €).
So the calculation of the wage used to be made like this:

Wage before = 250 € + the sum of the wage contribution of the skills

Today the operation is the same, except that the cost of the secondary skills is divided by 2:

Wage today = 250 € + the contribution of the higher skill + ½ of the sum of the secondary skills’ wage contribution.

The calculation of the wage requires the knowledge of each secondary skill’s contribution to the wage. To determine the cost of each skill in terms of wage, we must observe the wage of a monoskill player, where the secondary skills have no influence on his wage.
For almost all of the skills there is no impact on the wage beyond the Inadequate (5) level. Any player with a skill equal or less to Inadequate will have the minimum wage of 250 €. The only exception is the Goalkeeping skill, where the wage impact starts from the Wretched (2) level.

It is important to note that the Set Pieces skill has a different impact on wage. Indeed, each level of the Set Pieces skill increases the wage with 0.25%. The cost of the Set Pieces skill depends on how high the Set Pieces skill is for each player.

The wage decreases with 10% per year when the player turns 29 years old.
At 29 years of age, the player's wage will be 90% of the wage of a 28 years old player.
At 30 years of age, the player's wage will be 80% of the wage of a 28 years old player.
At 31 years of age, the player's wage will be 70% of the wage of a 28 years old player.
And so on, up to 37 years of age.

Data observation

Obviously, all the data are collected where they are most readily available: from the transfer market!
The goal is to determine the boundary between the wage of a N level and N +1 level of a given skill. We must therefore observe the wage of a player for a given skill and retain the lowest wage. Observing the player’s wage on a lower level by holding just below the maximum wage of the superior level allows us to have a good management of the wage limit (and determine if a player is "low" or "high" in skill).

We should however be careful that the retained wage corresponds to the skills displayed, meaning that no extra training occurred between the day the player turns his wage and the day he’s observed on the transfer list.
The training takes place on Thursday. Therefore on Friday we should observe only players of X years and 0 days old, on Saturday only players of X years and 1 day old and the next Wednesday we should notice players of X years and 5 days old.

These figures should be further enhanced so if you have players whose wages have just changed, please let us know on this topic: (15165682.1).

Tools

The first tool is an Excel file that allows you to calculate the wage of a player starting from the skills of the player. (http://dl.free.fr/kHSDdLRM4).

The second tool is an Excel file that allows you to evaluate the main skill of the player starting from his wage. The tool is adapted to the skills above Brilliant (11) for reasons of accuracy: (http://dl.free.fr/gq0vivND6). Please let us know about any errors when using these tools.
