Ten Years of Hattrick

Today 21st February 2012 marks a very special occasion. DrHunt (64204) celebrates ten years anniversary of the founding of his club Dream Seals (37553). Ten years ago, way before Facebook existed on the Internet, DrHunt has started playing Hattrick already.

The second "oldest" veteran still playing is Zfirez(65947) of Titus Titanium (37623), whose team team started way back in 4th March 2002. To celebrate the clubs ten year anniversary, we're happy to interview the duo to share their thoughts on ten years of Hattrick.

Do you know how long ten years is? For the stats lovers it means 509 weeks, or 3563 days, or 85 500 hours, or a massive 5 130 000 minutes of your life.

Can you imagine yourself playing this game for another ten years? Well, today we have two who has already played this game for ten years!

Wow! So its been ten years already. How does it feel knowing that you are the oldest team in Singapore?

DrHunt: No difference as I was not very active in the game.

When do you see yourself playing the game till? Another ten years perhaps?

DrHunt: (Probably) Till I'm too lazy to remember to login.

So do you think these ten years has been a waste of time?

DrHunt: Not really when you are able to make new friends within the community. :D

What is the meaning of your username?

DrHunt: I have been using this nick since IRC time lol. It supposed to be DreamHunt but I shortened it to DrHunt.

Okay. Tracing back to the origins, what got you into the game at first?

DrHunt: I don’t know. By chance? I was more of a basketball fan than soccer. It just happened that one day I chanced upon HT and curiosity kill the cat. That's why after 10yrs I still have not reached sleague.

I see. Do you think you will climb up the league ladder though? After spending the obscene amount of cash in bank…

DrHunt: Obscene? Nah... Not really a lot. It is not enough to even win div 3 nor cup.

Div III? Surely you are being too modest. When do you intend to spend that wealth?

DrHunt: (I spent it) one time off when the excitement is there however it drops when things cool off. So the activeness also fall and I am back to semi-retirement stage.

Moving forward, what was the most memorable event that you've witnessed in sg during this ten years?

DrHunt: I can't even remember how long I was active in the game. I was always dormant during the middle years

What do you think is the best achievement in Hattrick? For eg. Cup win, Sleague win or nt coach.

DrHunt: It is really subjective ad depends on individuals. Winning is not a priority for me. Playing HT is just trying out something new and as a past time. Making friends in HT means more to me though. Although I spend less time on
making friends than playing the game itself!

In your opinion, Which is the most successful team ever in sg?

DrHunt: Lol I don’t know.

Okay. What keeps you continue playing this game?

DrHunt: Multiple reasons.

Like?

DrHunt: Monkey see monkey do lor. Tried to emulate others (strategies) but failed badly.

How time flies! Can you believe that its ten years since you’ve started playing? Can you even remember what you were doing 10 years ago?

zFiRez: Hmm a little i guess. I was a fan of the game CM98/99, CM01/02. I was in Poly when a friend of introduced HT to me, and before I know it its ten years already.

What has changed in the game for the past ten years?

zFiRez: A lot i guess. From game engine, game interface, and the community even…. seen so many dynasties changed hands in Sleague lol.

Speaking of dynasties... which team in Singapore do you think is the "best ever"?

zFiRez: Herron of course, followed by Skylord's Winning Eleven. Third would be Skyfirex's team.

Wow. I can understand the Herron choice, but Winning Eleven, thats a controversial choice to be second. If I am not wrong Skyfirex surpassed his trophies count long ago...

zFiRez: Oh really? Hmm… No doubt Herron is the undisputed choice (for number one), but I've seen Winning Eleven rise to the top. As with Skyfirex's, if want to put them together, I’d rate them on par. Heck maybe even Borum will have a tough time against Skyfirex if the 3 of them playing now.

I see. Do you foresee Skyfirex ever overtaking these teams then?

zFiRez: Well he can, he did indicate before he wanted to overtake these 2 teams before he retires…

Is there a moment during the ten years you came really close to quitting the game?

zFiRez: Of course there are, and its not just one moment, quite a few in fact. Many of my real life friends left the game, as well as all the economy and game engine changes.

Well, what are the things you looking forwards to in the game are? What are the ambitions of your club?

zFiRez: Hmmm… I think my aim is still divine midfield. Yup, and I want to win at least 1 sleague or cup title. However, i think its quite beyond me currently.

Alright. Finally tell me one thing in hattrick that keeps you coming back

zFiRez: You guys, the HT-SG community! Honestly, if not for HTTT (Hattrick Teh Tarek) I probably wouldn’t have lasted that long.

zFiRez: Lol i owe u, but they all still owe me one as well.
