Interview with HT-managers

HT is a place where you can meet different people. It would be great to know their differences, don't you? This interview is not about the HT Manager. This interview is about the person who is managing this team. Meet the owner of the team Steel Dragon United (1628056) from Cymru.

KerLaeda: Hi! Please, introduce yourself.

Flash14: Hi, my real name is Lewis Holland and I'm 22 years old. I'm studying engineering at university in Glasgow.

KerLaeda: Where were you born? Where did you spend your childhood? What feelings appear when you think about the place you grew up?

Flash14: This one will be fun :)
I was born in Ipswich in England and when I was 5 I moved to Northampton. I used to go to Colwyn Bay in Wales nearly every weekend to stay with my grandmother though. When I was 7 I then moved to Holland where I stayed for ten years and then I lived in Austria for two years before coming to Glasgow for university.
Because I moved so much I don't really think of one place when I look back on my childhood. The only place that I always went back to though was Colwyn Bay. My parents have actually bought a house there again now so I'm glad I have another reason to go back more often.

KerLaeda: What is the most memorable place in your city for you and why?

Flash14: I don't really have a 'my city' as such but the nicest city that I lived in has got to be Vienna, absolutely stunning city. If I had to pick a favourite place there it would probably be Heldenplatz (which translates to Heroes's square). It looks lovely and I spent many a summer evening there having casual drinks with friends.

KerLaeda: What hobbies did you have in the childhood, which have stayed or appeared?

Flash14: Football has always been my main hobby. I used to play for the village when I lived in Holland and then for my school when I lived in Austria. I don't play anymore though except for the occasional 7v7 with friends. I do still sometimes play tennis and squash though and I quite enjoy karting. I've also played the saxophone since I was eight so have gotten pretty decent at that.

KerLaeda: What do you read and what's your favourite book?

Flash14: Some of my favourite books are the Harry Potter series, the Artemis Fowl series, the Narnia series, and anything by Dan Brown (especially Angels and Demons). The last book I read was The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and it was a really good book. I got it for Christmas and had finished it by the morning of the 27th. I'm currently reading the latest book by Sir Alex Ferguson, Leading. It's a really interesting read by a fascinating man.

KerLaeda: What was the most remarkable event that happened in your life?

Flash14: My favourite life experience so far has got to be traveling through Malawi and Zambia last summer. I spent 5 weeks volunteering in Malawi and then spent another week traveling to Victoria Falls in Zambia and back using only public transport. Really great experience and the people there are so friendly.

KerLaeda: What music do you prefer?

Flash14: I mostly listen to rock music and my favourite band is Muse. I also like Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, The Killers, The White Stripes and The Fratellis just to name a few.

KerLaeda: How did you know about HT?

Flash14: I started after a friend of mine told me about the game. I think it was 2007 when I started my first team so I was only 13. I didn't know the forums existed back then so my friend and I just tried to figure out how the game worked by ourselves. My younger brother then also started playing and we had quite a competition going with our rubbish teams. They both got bored though and quit so I ended up quitting too. I started my current team in 2010 and actually learnt how the game worked so I've stuck about since.

KerLaeda: What did you like in the manager and what you didn't? (i mean HT)

Flash14: When I first played the game I thought it was a bit too slow and got impatient waiting for games at the weekend, it was definitely worth it though as my brother and I would always watch our games together and get excited over them. I won promotion in my first season which really helped with the excitement. I remember the change from the old interface to the current one and how exciting that was at the time.

KerLaeda: What changes in the last time were the most useful and important? (i mean changes in HT)

Flash14: The live ratings was a good addition even if I don't watch my matches live as often as I used to. I also prefer the new staff system to the old one.

KerLaeda: What do you want to change in the manager (i mean HT) or add to it?

Flash14: I like the sound of the changes that were recently announced with the better live experience and no more coaches for the NT's. I know they are considering giving specialties a rework and I think it's definitely needed. Powerful is just useless whilst quick and head are way too strong. The fan system could do with rework too. I also feel like tactically HT is still fairly limited so I hope this will be improved at some point in the future.

KerLaeda: What do you have for an object (goals)?

Flash14: I would like to win the Welsh league and/or the cup one day and participate in the Hattrick Masters. I finished 2nd in the top league once and was runner-up in the cup in the same season. To the same team! I'm rebuilding my squad now so hopefully I can come back stronger and win it.
I would also like to be NT manager again one day and qualify for the world cup. When I was NT manager we finished 3rd and only missed out on qualification on goal difference. Gutting.

KerLaeda: And finally: what is the most important part in HT for you?

Flash14: I mentioned earlier that HT was too slow for me but that was when I was 13/14 years old and impatient. Now I think that if it was any faster I would have quit a long time ago. I like the fact that you don't have to log in every day if you don't have time but there is always something to do if you do want to. I also feel that the community played an important role in me sticking around all this time. The Welsh forums aren't as active as they once were but it's still nice to talk to the familiar faces, many of which have been playing far longer than me. The best feeling was when we got to the World cup quarter finals and as a country that had never seen success at NT level that was great to experience. Hopefully we'll get there again one day.
