Interview with the Cup winner

Hamunaptra FC is the first winner of the Curaçao Cup. The team, led by manager Don_Rony (6938177), won an exciting cup final with 1-2 against Czarna Bandera. I asked some questions to him just after the match.

Congratulations with your victory! Did you expect to win this trophy?
Yes. The expectations were always there, because I especially created my team for this.

What was your plan when you started this team? Training, trading, or something else?
I was lucky to be the second team registered in Curaçao .. I sold all the native players of the club which paid me very well.

Why did you choose this country to open a new team? Are you connected to it somehow?
I'm from Barranquilla, Colombia. This is a Caribbean country. That's why I feel more empathy for the countries of the Caribbean

You already had a second team when you came here and started a third one. What have you done different compared to your second team?
My second team is in the HTI competition, located in the USA. But I only train them to help the U-20 of my country.

A significant number of second teams has developed very quickly through the use of old, cheap players. What are the pros, what the cons? Would you use this strategy for your primary team? Please discuss.
I am one of those who think that this game has two cycles. You train at 100% for a while and then you compete at 100%. If your goal is to win something big, you can't train and compete at the same time. If you want to do both at the same time, it will take you years and maybe you will not achieve anything.

What is your opinion about new countries that are added to the game? How would you do it if you were a HT?
The secondary teams in the new countries is a good option for them to grow fast.

Do you intend to lead the NT or the U-20 of Curaçao one day?
I have always helped Colombia and Ecuador with their U-20 teams, but I have never had the possibility to do this. But if it happens, why not?
