ASHV 1 - 2 Green

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed more people than usual to see the game, and one club official counted 232 people around the sidelines of Młóckarnia. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The boys who got to play today were: Michalczak - Piechocki, Gorzawski, Błaszków, Solny, Kozerski - Połaski, Lawrenc, Datko, Gwizd - Malak.

The coach fielded the following talents: Kovač - Vaupotič, Perš, Plot - Gazvoda, Furek, Špička, Raduha, Prek - Prevec, Štrbal.

Hellas fielded a 5-4-1 lineup. For Greenkoti, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. Waldemar Malak has a certain funkiness in his style of play - often going for the unexpected and flashy solution. This time he forged ahead to get in position for a fine finish, but the keeper got the better of him. ASHV have a talent of sorts there. Green took the lead by 0 to 1 after Štefan Gazvoda curved a free kick into the net. 0 - 1 was the score after 45 minutes. In this half Green were the most energetic, keeping the ball to themselves for 57 percent of the time.

Green had hoped to extend their lead after 60 minutes as the untested Tejo Raduha received a through ball on the right and hit it directly, but unfortunately the angle was too acute, and the shot hit the side of the goal. Gašper Prevec got it all wrong after being in a position to shoot from the edge of the box after an attack through the middle. He then proceeded to put his entire foot under the ball to send it soaring way over the crossbar. On the follow-through, he ended up slipping and falling onto his rear end. That'll end up on YouTube for sure! After 64 minutes, Green nearly put themselves up another goal as Branimir Štrbal stumbled through on the left and dragged the ball with him towards the goal. The keeper was alert and ready though. As the clock struck 68 minutes, Štefan Gazvoda displayed his charming innocence as a player and made a solo raid through the center of the field. The defenders followed him closely, but the young talent got a shot off and was nearly able to add to his team's lead. A minor tussle in the guest's penalty box around 69 minutes into the game gave the home team a penalty. Ryszard Gwizd, looking mature beyond his years, made no mistake and it's 1 - 1. Green had a free kick in minute 73 and tried a tricky play. Their own Tejo Raduha muscled his way into the defensive wall, and the kicker then passed the ball to him. With a simple turn, he no longer had any defenders to worry about and blasted home the 1 - 2 goal. A slight injury to his right calf muscle meant Branimir Štrbal had to leave the match early. It happened after 75 minutes. Alen Strmec had already been warming up, and came on for Branimir Štrbal. That's all, folks! The match ends 1 - 2. Green pleased their coach greatly, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

The spectators agreed that the most impressive boy on ASHV today had been Grodzisław Piechocki. Andrzej Lawrenc left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team. Green's Lucijan Špička had a great game and was congratulated by his teammates. This boy could be going places! On the other hand, the level of play may have been too high for Dževad Prek.
