G-U19 3 - 6 PIONERI

It had been raining for hours, but parents and siblings don't have much choice and 168 of them had gathered at Memorial Max Estadio to cheer for their boys. While a boggy pitch like this was an advantage for physical players, it really didn't help those who relied on speed or technique. The boys who got to play today were: Manterola - Utrera, Utreras, Rosales - Miru, Muñoz, Ibacache , Villabona - Ponce, Lillo, Urtaza.

The coach fielded the following talents: Chashule - Kadare, Lazarev - Cikarski, Muzaka, Panevski, Kezaroski, Paneski - Blazevski, Lluci, Shapchevski.

Guardianes Del Morro fielded a 3-4-3 lineup. For PIONERI, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3. G-U19 took a creative approach on the field. PIONERI demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. The visitors' central defenders should have stopped Leoncio Urtaza, but they were naive in their efforts and let him slip through. The goal, a low shot the goalie couldn't reach, put G-U19 into the lead, 1 - 0! After 19 minutes, Ushtim Lluci suffered a slight injury to his right calf muscle. However, it was not enough to stop him from continuing the game. Zlate Chashule kept the visitors in the game with an amazing save after 20 minutes, following Edson Muñoz's cannonball kick. That might just go viral - if anyone bothered to record it. With a combination of some luck and raw skill, G-U19's Gabriel Utreras wobbly pass caught the defense out of position. Leoncio Urtaza collected it, and calmly placed in the net. 2 - 0. Eladio Lillo could have put G-U19 up one more, but he stumbled on a sprinkler head on his way towards the goal from the left after 23 minutes. You can tell this isn't the senior team's field... After 24 minutes Mitre Cikarski demonstrated his speed to the senior squad coach, who had come down for the day. After breaking loose, he dropped the ball to Vangel Paneski who directed it past the goaltender. That means 2 - 1. The visitors didn't give in, and after 26 minutes, Vangel Kezaroski got through the home side's central line of defense, scoring the equalizing 2 - 2 goal. At the halftime break, the score was 2 - 2. G-U19, bringing their ball possession to 51 percent, seemed most ambitious today.

With 52 minutes played, the home side made it all the way up the right wing to score. Eladio Lillo supplied the finish, receiving the ball on his chest and knocking it in for 3 - 2, giving his team the lead. Malen Muzaka tied the game at 3 - 3 after 65 minutes, beating the keeper to a long ball played in from the right. It looked like it was too far in front, but he's very determined - you seldom see that in a teenager. A mistake by the kids playing central defense allowed Dusan Blazevski to score the 3 - 4 goal for PIONERI after 66 minutes. A haphazard combination through the middle gave PIONERI's Malen Muzaka a decent chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score after 67 minutes was therefore 3 - 5. After 68 minutes, the visitors put themselves ahead 3 - 6 as Ivan Panevski redirected a misplaced long shot from the left into the goal. I don't think he knew much about that one! At the final whistle, the score is 3 - 6. In this half G-U19 were the most energetic, keeping the ball to themselves for 51 percent of the time.

Leoncio Urtaza performed especially well for G-U19 - he could be a candidate for the senior squad one day. On the other hand, the level of play may have been too high for Rufino Manterola. PIONERI's Vanco Shapchevski had a great game and was congratulated by his teammates. This boy could be going places! Zlate Chashule left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team.
