junci 7 - 2 Zügler

Around 128 brave souls made it through the pouring rain to the muddy field of Tikvesh to see the game - although it might be more of a swim meet than a soccer match. While a boggy pitch like this was an advantage for physical players, it really didn't help those who relied on speed or technique. The boys who got to play today were: Malko - Panchev, Dzolev, Naumov - Trendafilov, Oncheski, Arllati, Cimovski - Nikolovski, Mehmeti, Sakaliev.

The lucky starting players: Mühlemann - Henriod, Strobel, Oehry, Capobianco - Brussard, Bieler, Heilig, Lindenberg - Netillard, Delagneau.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Buffalo junior, went for a 3-4-3, while FC Zug 94 U18 has decided to play a 4-4-2 lineup. junci took a creative approach on the field. Zügler demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. The senior squad coaches will be reviewing the video of minute 8 after a fantastic solo goal by Lirim Mehmeti. He started near the center line on the right side of the field, and after a scintillating run full of tricks and turns, junci lead 1 - 0. 9 minutes into the game Filippo Netillard came in from the left and blasted a shot towards the far post. A defender came in with a last-ditch slide, but put the ball past his own keeper. The Zügler player will still get the credit though, as the shot was on target. 1 - 1. junci's Borislav Oncheski tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but kept getting stopped by the visitors' defenders. Some hustling and bustling on the left wing somehow resulted in a goal for junci, putting them ahead 2 - 1. The ref noted down Lirim Mehmeti as the scorer and 16 as the minute. The junci youngsters looked rather smug following the 3 - 1 goal, which came about after a left side attack. Stojan Naumov stuffed it in with 17 minutes of the match gone. Was that intentional or not? In any case, that pass from junci's Stojan Naumov opened up the defense and Pavel Cimovski had no problem guiding the ball into an open net. 4 - 1. junci's Nenad Sakaliev showed some of his reported potential with that goal. It's 5 - 1 due to a clinical finish after a pass through the middle that even impressed some of the senior squad players that showed up here today. At the halftime break, the score was 5 - 1. junci, bringing their ball possession to 57 percent, seemed most ambitious today.

As the match clock hit 46 minutes, junci regrouped to try and keep their initiative in the game. Vlade Nikolovski high-fived Stojan Naumov as they swapped positions on the team. As Pavel Cimovski was substituted after 46 minutes, he could at least take comfort in the fact that his team was in the lead. Andon Mitov was the replacement. junci solidified their lead at the 61 minute mark, as Flokart Arllati maneuvered the ball through the central line of defense and pounded in the 6 - 1 goal. The visitors got one back when up-and-coming Murat Lindenberg collected a pass from the left to score and make it 6 - 2 72 minutes in. It was group hug time yet again, when junci pushed ahead to 7 - 2. Lirim Mehmeti was the center of attention, having moved deftly through the middle to find the perfect opening, not hesitating when he did. After scoring his third goal of the match, Lirim Mehmeti ran over to his father to pose for a picture celebrating his hattrick! After 76 minutes, junci were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the kicker went for an indirect combination which seemed to take his teammates a bit by surprise. Stojan Naumov did manage a shot. It was from a weird angle though, and ended up in the visitor's bleachers nearly hitting a cotton candy vendor. That's all, folks! The match ends 7 - 2. junci pleased their coach greatly, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

junci's Nenad Sakaliev had a great game and was congratulated by his teammates. This boy could be going places! Igli Malko left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team. The coach of Zügler was especially pleased with Maxime Delagneau after the game. Filippo Netillard needs a lot of extra training, however.
