LPC 3 - 1 MooFoo

The crowd of 1328 turning up at titi stadium today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Jesse 'Regia' Väisänen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fulvio Jacquat and Dillon Wayfarer. The following players had been selected: Duclos - Lesaulnier, Dupuis, Bossis - Chauvet, Even, Cohen, Vélia, Bachelard - Kasserini, Damon.

Lineup: Marrocco - Falk, Galdino, Ioli - Zahrin, Durand, Jaafar, Schüle - Eysker, Martínez Blanco, Boissel.

les pieds carrés trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Moon Foot, chose to start the game with a 3-4-3 lineup. It was an obvious ambition of MooFoo to play a wide game with their magical ability to attack down the wings. The game was characterized by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but Manuel Cohen showed great heart and had a good game. LPC's Issam Kasserini tried to break through the middle repeatedly, but the visitors' defenders were just too alert. MooFoo had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 25 minutes in when Ibrahim Jaafar found himself alone with Michaël Duclos who managed a block. Jean-Michel Even gave LPC the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! LPC had to make a substitution after 35 minutes. Manuel Cohen apparently was hit by a thrown bottle of Schlitz by one of the opposing players' fans, and now reeks of blood and bad beer. While the coach remonstrated with the side official about the situation, Thomas Hermel finished his warmups and came on. The slippery field made speedy runs nearly impossible, which hampered Issam Kasserini in particular. MooFoo were close to putting the equalizer away after 37 minutes as the opposing defense lost the ball to Richard Boissel in a scuffle on the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the sideline. Jean-Michel Even increased LPC's lead to 2 - 0, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. Halftime score was 2 - 0. LPC did a good job holding on to the ball, with 55 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

A well-placed free kick by MooFoo's Guido Galdino reduced the lead to 2 - 1. A great save by keeper Alfonso Marrocco with 62 minutes gone kept the visitors in the game after Thomas Hermel struck from the left with a real cannonball. The bench was restless, and with 63 minutes gone MooFoo's coach gave Yann Hummel the opportunity to try to change the team's fortunes. Conrad Schüle reluctantly left the field. A crazy pass by Peter Falk towards his own keeper almost caused a goal for LPC, but Cyprien Bachelard didn't get the finish right. LPC's Nicolas Chauvet was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 3 - 1 after 69 minutes. The match ends 3 - 1. The forty-five minutes were dominated by LPC, with an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.

Most important LPC player was Alexandre Damon. Good thing Cyprien Bachelard isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. MooFoo's top performer was clearly Rafael Martínez Blanco. I can't remember Alfonso Marrocco ever having a worse night than he just had.
