Due to an all-day shower, 1711 paying spectators got to see the game on a field-turned-swamp at Wiese Arena. Franco D'Anna was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marco Federici and Fernando González. Lineup: Bremond - Thioub, Tatlıses, Hänninen, Godulyan - Holzinger, Seçmen, Perko, Maccarinelli - Cowper, Dozorets.

They fielded: Abou-Elaz - Dauce, Ndiour - Ballion, Royer, Guyet, Bouillard, Degras - Poeira, Dioh, Tétu.

AS Mazières started the game in a 4-4-2 formation, whereas aza85 lined up in a 2-5-3. A supernatural level of counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Mazières. After 19 minutes, Mazières's Edvin Perko successfully broke up a pass with his face. Instinctively, he got up again only to unintentionally use his now-throbbing schnozz to break up a second pass. As he was carted off for a concussion check, Raúl Sendoya ran onto the field to take his place. Gabriel Royer slipped and slid in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. Alan Cowper stunned the crowd with a brilliant counter-attack from the left, giving Mazières the goal to make it 1 - 0. After 37 minutes Mazières's Simon Holzinger contracted a slight foot injury, but said he could still finish the game. aza85 got a chance to level the scores in minute 41 as Manuel Tétu suddenly found himself free with only the keeper to beat, but the finish hit the bar. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. aza85 did a good job holding on to the ball, with 67 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

The referee showed aza85's Romain Ballion the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 62 minutes Mazières tried to use their counter-attacking skills. Unfortunately, Raúl Sendoya's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. The muddy field made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit Ludovic Degras just fine. 72 minutes into the game, Romain Ballion bent a free kick around the home team's wall, leaving the keeper with no chance for a save. aza85 had evened up the scoreline! 1 - 1. A poorly positioned wall on a free kick after 73 minutes allowed for aza85's Romain Ballion to give the visitors the 1 - 2 lead. aza85's Luciano Poeira received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 74 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 1 - 3. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! After playing for 74 minutes and finding his team in a losing position, the manager hoped to turn things around. Simon Holzinger was ordered to assume a different position on the field and switched places with Aleksi Hänninen. With 74 minutes played, the Mazières coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Piya Ngamluad came on and Aleksi Hänninen had to leave the fray. Aleksi Hänninen was coming off, and had taken his last free kick for the day. That meant Seyhun Seçmen got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. As the captain was no longer on the field, Yakup Tatlıses took over the role for Mazières. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 1 - 3. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that aza85 had 66...66 percent possession. AH AH AH!

The most outstanding Mazières player was without a doubt Raúl Sendoya. Speaking of stinking up the place, Piya Ngamluad sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. aza85's top performer was clearly Gabriel Royer. I can't remember Habib Dioh ever having a worse night than he just had.
