118958 fans turned up at Arena Franco Corelli, and despite threatening clouds, no rain came. Evaristo Côrte was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rafael Bordonada and Marco Gleria. They fielded: Mikuš - Volčina, Auinger, Sober, Mishevski - Linhart, Glamočanin, Lovič, Iršič, Ložar - Lavrač.

The following players took the field: Wainer - Aggour, Semo - Litvinoff, Litzman, Sedky, Meisel, Bar-Yaakov - Karni, Kashtan, Bar-Uryan.

U-20 Slovenija started the game in a 4-5-1 formation, whereas U-20 Israel lined up in a 2-5-3. Down the middle came Bar El Karni, making a fantastic play that nearly saw U-20 Israel take the lead after 8 minutes, but Gojko Mikuš preserved the tie. Boaz Kashtan let loose a good shot after 13 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. 16 minutes into the game, U-20 Slovenija had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to solid. U-20 Israel took the lead after 33 minutes making the score 0 - 1. The keeper had no chance on Bar El Karni's fine volley fromleft of the net after a cross from the right. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, U-20 Slovenija's Jože Lavrač got himself booked. Given a free kick from an impossible angle, U-20 Israel went for a play that loyal fans may recognize from training. A square ball surprised the defense and let Achimeir Meisel slip through at goal. He hit it first time, making the score 0 - 2, 36 minutes into the game. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that U-20 Israel would have 64 percent possession in this half was spot on!

U-20 Slovenija's coach had to raise his voice a little, but he also managed to raise his players' organization to excellent after reviewing his strategy. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, U-20 Slovenija's Adrijan Lovič was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 46 minutes. Tilen Predikaka was given a chance to change things around. The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes gone U-20 Slovenija's coach gave Janko Lahajnar the opportunity to try to change the team's fortunes. Dajnomir Glamočanin reluctantly left the field. It was a fine day for Etgar Litvinoff down the touchline, and his cross to Chagai Bar-Yaakov 49 minutes in was executed especially well, but the keeper saved the ensuing shot. Achimeir Meisel increased the visitors' lead by volleying in a pass from the right. 0 - 3. U-20 Israel's Shady Aggour wanted to play on, but after 72 minutes the decision was made to give Noam Greenwald a chance in his place. After 72 minutes, the excellent pass from the wing by U-20 Slovenija's Rihard Ložar reached Jože Lavrač's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 1 - 3. With 74 minutes played, U-20 Israel put themselves up 1 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Daniel Bar-Uryan. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, U-20 Israel's Daniel Bar-Uryan finally got himself booked for a foul. The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 78 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because Simcha Litzman had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. 81 minutes in, U-20 Slovenija appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only solid. U-20 Israel's Boaz Kashtan made it through the home team's defense on the right hand side 84 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded net when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. U-20 Israel's Seif Sedky had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his hand with 85 minutes on the clock. The replacement for the injured player was Ro'i Zeltzer. As Seif Sedky left the field, the coach signaled to Bar El Karni to be the new set pieces taker. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 4. The forty-five minutes were dominated by U-20 Israel, with an impressive 79 percent possession of the ball.

The most outstanding U-20 Slovenija player was without a doubt Janko Lahajnar. Speaking of stinking up the place, Rihard Ložar sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Most important U-20 Israel player was Daniel Bar-Uryan. Good thing Yedidia Semo isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
