25287 fans turned up at naša ulica, and despite threatening clouds, no rain came. Jim Brunner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Iiro Krabbe and Zack Mons. The following players took the field: Škarpa - Dražina, Gojdanić, Udovčić, Pavlica, Buljat - Rotiroti, Papec, Piacitelli - Badovinac, Šekez.

Lineup: Vrbovszki - Knyihár, Hódosi, Škridlovský, Dimulász - Füvesi, Lattek, Pelikán - Ráskó, Miskéri, Zatykó.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Hrvatska, went for a 5-3-2, while Magyarország has decided to play a 4-3-3 lineup. Like the adage "bend but don't break", Hrvatska will rely on their divine (+2) ability to counter-attack today. For their match strategy, Magyarország had decided to use their extra-terrestrial ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Magyarország had a good opportunity to score the go-ahead goal after a combination on the right but the home team's keeper Rajko Škarpa saved Benjámin Knyihár's shot that was headed straight to the top corner. Hrvatska had a great opportunity to score following a counter-attack after 35 minutes, but Luka Badovinac's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. After 39 minutes, the defensive line of Hrvatska created a counter-attack through the middle that gave Branimir Šekez a good look at goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Magyarország had 56...56 percent possession. AH AH AH!

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Magyarország manager decided it was time for a substitution. Kristóf Miskéri reluctantly made way for Ferenc Haraszti. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Magyarország substitution. Dávid Antal came on for Áron Vrbovszki. 50 minutes into the game, Hrvatska wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Karlo Papec gave Tarzan Plavšin a quick hug as he left the field. Péter Pelikán was in no condition to play on. 72 into the game he left the field on a stretcher, with his left thigh bandaged, and crying out in pain. The player that took his place was Dániel Csató. Benjámin Knyihár became the new Magyarország captain. A free kick aimed at the keeper's far post almost gave Magyarország the lead 73 minutes in, but the ball just wasn't able to squirm its way through the defensive wall. 74 minutes into the game, Tarzan Plavšin put the finishing touch on a counter-attack down the left wing by Hrvatska. 1 - 0. The Hrvatska players could smell victory in the air. Rajko Škarpa wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Bogdan Čudić after 75 minutes. Koppány Zatykó made a run for the goal 78 minutes into the game but the home team's left side was too well defended and the attack fizzled out. The fourth official announced that there would be 1 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 0. Magyarország did a good job holding on to the ball, with 55 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Bogdan Čudić performed admirably for Hrvatska. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Edo Dražina seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The most outstanding Magyarország player was without a doubt Ferenc Haraszti. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Csaba Hódosi today.
