BZB 3 - 3 DNBcrew

36858 spectators arrived at BZB Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for soccer. Mikael Paulsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mathies Besenfelder and Gabriel Rudawski. The following players took the field: Domeracki - Acabado, Vonortas, Timić - Biegański, Stypułkowski, Bacza, Misterek, Everist - Taru, Comish.

Lineup: Gamberini - Kalisz, Roviaro, Winter - Sallmayer, Grużewski, Hochenauer, Pastusiak, Więcławski - Jabłoński, Diako.

The teams stopped and stared at each other - it was like they were looking in a mirror, since they both lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. Using their world class skill, BZB pushed their attacks towards the wings. A corner kick created massive confusion in the penalty area, with a near-goal by Jerzy Grużewski. At last, DNBcrew's Dialamba Diako was able to will the ball into the net. 0 - 1. DNBcrew's Mirosław Jabłoński received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 23 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 2. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, DNBcrew's José Winter finally got himself booked for a foul. Having contracted a nasty injury to his right foot, Bolesław Więcławski had no choice but to leave the pitch, 28 minutes into the match. Antal Csengeri had already been warming up, and came on for Bolesław Więcławski. Tom Sallmayer tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving DNBcrew's Antal Csengeri a chance to knock it in for 0 - 3. With clinical precision, the cross from winger Andrzej Biegański found its way to Lesław Misterek's head, and a screaming header gave BZB a goal after 35 minutes played. The scoreboard read 1 - 3. 38 minutes into the match, BZB's Lesław Misterek chased down a ball sent down the right and put it into the back of the net, narrowing the score to 2 - 3. It was obvious that BZB had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Due to some great work on the right wing BZB's António Acabado was able to even the score 43 minutes in to 3 - 3. DNBcrew's Jerzy Grużewski could have put the guests one up 43 minutes in after chasing a through ball from the right, but Krzysztof Domeracki was as quick as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. BZB's Aaron Everist was shown a yellow card after 44 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 3 - 3 was the halftime score. BZB did a good job holding on to the ball, with 55 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Attacking on the wings was the theme of the day for BZB, and they were successfully passing the ball outside from the middle. 71 minutes into the game, BZB wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Witold Stypułkowski gave Daniel Draga a quick hug as he left the field. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Jerzy Grużewski slipped through the left defense to come up alone against Krzysztof Domeracki, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning-fast reflexes. After 73 minutes, the DNBcrew coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Mirosław Jabłoński off. Richard Leijonström took his place. BZB were determined to attack down the sideline and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favor of the wings. BZB had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to go down the wing instead. A late sliding challenge from Aaron Everist was deemed to be reckless, which earned him his second yellow card and left BZB down a man. 78 minutes into the game, DNBcrew's Tom Sallmayer took a seemingly painful knock to his chest. However, he gritted his teeth and decided to play on. With the clock showing 79 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. José Winter looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Niklas Ingo Radlmeier, though he would have liked to continue. As the captain was no longer on the field, Dialamba Diako took over the role for DNBcrew. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 4 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 3 - 3. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that BZB would have 55 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Most important BZB player was Sakıp Taru. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Krzysztof Domeracki seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Dialamba Diako performed admirably for DNBcrew. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Antal Csengeri today.
