8304 spectators had come to Fc Talentinos Arena this cloudy day. Frank-Michael Singethan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Karel Sivko and Walter Kallina. The following players had been selected: Capet - Vastenavondt, Kahlich, Marynissen - Vanbellingen, van Aerssen Beyeren van Voshol, Tomai Pitinca, Allotey, Poissonnier - Smekens, Eslahat.

The following players took the field: Franzen - Paternostre, Debrulle - Dörfler, Vercauteren, Verkest, Cuvelier, Sobaszek - Carrette, Bogaert, Pouč.

Fc Talentinos fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For W.C. Brussels, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3. Talentinos were mostly trying to use their magnificent skill at attacking on the flanks. Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy Thierry Cuvelier's goal after a run down the left with 29 minutes on the clock. W.C.'s lead, 0 - 1. The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 32 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because Clive Bogaert had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that W.C.'s would have 66 percent possession in this half was spot on!

A surprising free kick routine after 49 minutes nearly resulted in another goal for the visitors, but the strikers were too eager and were caught offside. With 62 minutes played, the Talentinos coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Rui Carvalho came on and Lutz Kahlich had to leave the fray. Jeffie Smekens tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving Talentinos's Rui Carvalho a chance to knock it in for 1 - 1. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 71 minutes into the match, and Mateusz Sobaszek wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 1 - 2 for the visitors. Josef Pouč has acquired a talent for predicting the movements of the opposing defenders over the years and this almost resulted in a goal 81 minutes into the match. The Talentinos free kick 83 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But it was no mistake - Auke Vanbellingen seemingly came out of nowhere and had miles of space to control the ball and pick his spot. That's 2 - 2! 84 minutes into the match, Talentinos's Payam Eslahat demonstrated his running prowess as he raced past his defender and passed the ball to Jeffie Smekens who chipped it in for 3 - 2. Maikel Capet's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save to deny Thierry Cuvelier's equally fantastic shot after a break on the left 85 minutes into the game. The home side's Juris Allotey came close to extending the lead after 86 minutes. His shot came in from the right but Frank Franzen managed to push it wide with his fingertips. The fourth official announced that there would be 1 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 3 - 2. W.C.'s did a good job holding on to the ball, with 61 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

The most outstanding Talentinos player was without a doubt Jeffie Smekens. I can't remember Maikel Capet ever having a worse night than he just had. Most important W.C.'s player was Herre Vercauteren. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Pierre Debrulle today.
