It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 69488 that came out to Freeway Arena. Sipko Scholma was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Francisco Urbina and Livio Bacher. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. People from all over Lagos had joined up for the rivalry game. The following players took the field: Molbo - Hulin, da Luz, Strauven - Getino, Ciucuriţă, Pieters, Kritikos, Della Marchina - Ozuna, Egger.

They fielded: Amini Golestan - Bandiacky, Ayuba, Ekim, Mumuby - Obaseki, Kryachko, Abraham, Amzah, Kloos - Martínez Barón.

Supastrikas FC trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Asse-Online Academy FC, chose to start the game with a 4-5-1 lineup. It was an obvious ambition of SSFC to play a wide game with their divine ability to attack down the wings. Fernando Getino dispatched a majestic long shot 4 minutes in, but missed the goal by a few yards. Renatinho da Luz went down after twisting his left ankle after 5 minutes, and had to leave the pitch. Marco Peresuttitried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. Many thought Cataldo Della Marchina ought to have been awarded a penalty 20 minutes into the match, as he went down trying to beat Rouzbahan Amini Golestan after an attack through the middle gave him the one-on-one opportunity. Making his way up the middle after 28 minutes, Pedro Andrés Ozuna almost managed to sneak a goal past the visitors' keeper, but Rouzbahan Amini Golestan was ready and blocked it to keep the score level. Chris Strauven saw that the keeper was out and shot from an incredible distance 35 minutes in. Unfortunately for SSFC, the ball skimmed the crossbar and went over. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. SSFC did a good job holding on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

59 minutes into the game, Asse-Online wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Iso Mumuby gave Paadu Hamm a quick hug as he left the field. SSFC had a good opportunity to take the lead as Cataldo Della Marchina came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Rouzbahan Amini Golestan. With the clock showing 71 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Makeba Abraham looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Ben Awoka, though he would have liked to continue. Following a nasty collision in the 71, SSFC's Haris Kritikos complained of a damaged shoulder. He was advised against continuing the game. Oto Lisák had already been warming up, and came on for Haris Kritikos. After 78 minutes of play, Oto Lisák gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. SSFC were determined to attack down the sideline and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favor of the wings. SSFC's Oto Lisák was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 2 - 0 after 79 minutes. SSFC managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when Julian Egger slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 3 - 0. The forty-five minutes were dominated by SSFC, with an impressive 60 percent possession of the ball.

The most outstanding SSFC player was without a doubt Julian Egger. I can't remember Marco Peresutti ever having a worse night than he just had. Felipe Martínez Barón performed admirably for Asse-Online. Speaking of stinking up the place, Mouss Bandiacky sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
