O2H 1 - 1 FCO

30202 fans braved the pouring rain at O2H Center. Jonas Fabio Lügde was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alessandro Pentassuglia and Boet Kromkamp. The rain was pouring down, it was the kind of weather favoured by strong players who stick to simple football. For players possessing of speed or technical skills, the day really was as grim as for everyone else. Starters: Tillier - Langhoff, Pasquini, Orbocea, Zeil - Brockdorff, Heidbrenner, Biderman, Bandeira - Rempała, Facciolo.

The following players took the field: Pena - Winiker, Aran, 大石 (Oishi) - De Vos, Daquin, Kanelos, Herrod-Taylor, Koffmann - Lozardo, Klarreich.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-4-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 3-5-2. O2H were mostly trying to use their supernatural skill at attacking on the flanks. FCO's game plan was to sit back and absorb the pressure, then use their outstanding ability to break on the counter whenever possible. After 11 minutes, Filip Langhoff took a hard knock between his legs. He needed a long breather but were eventually able to continue the game. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 28 minutes into the match left FCO's Pedro Conrado Klarreich completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. 33 minutes into the game, FCO seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. FCO's Matthieu De Vos set up a perfect opportunity for Pedro Conrado Klarreich, but the latter failed to score. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that O2H would have 61 percent possession in this half was spot on!

FCO's coach went over the strategy again during the break, and after that his players had solid organization. Content with how the game was proceeding, the FCO coach let Uglješa Spasić come on for Davie Herrod-Taylor after 46 minutes. Davie Herrod-Taylor was coming off, and had taken his last free kick for the day. That meant Uglješa Spasić got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. Always quick on his feet, O2H's Ditão Bandeira sped down the field after 49 minutes, but his pass to Reinhard Brockdorff was just a bit too far ahead for him to get a good shot off. FCO's Matthieu De Vos wanted to play on, but after 50 minutes the decision was made to give Gustavo Manuel Ajalla a chance in his place. The FCO coach was happy with the scoreline, but still wanted to change the lineup. After 55 minutes, José Almendras came on for Celso Lozardo. FCO mounted an inspired counter-attack down the right wing after 67 minutes, but José Almendras was unable to convert from short range. O2H were determined to attack down the sideline and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favor of the wings. Due to some great work on the right wing O2H's Dan Orbocea was able to even the score 69 minutes in to 1 - 1. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 1 - 1. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that O2H had 58...58 percent possession. AH AH AH!

The most outstanding O2H player was without a doubt Edwin Rempała. Speaking of stinking up the place, Reinhard Brockdorff sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. 剛 (Takeshi) 'Ponja' 大石 (Oishi) performed admirably for FCO. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Gustavo Manuel Ajalla today.
