21719 spectators had found their way to libertadores de america, despite the heavy rain. Alexander Oxmo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Johnnie Fiorio and Clarencio Baio. The rain was pouring down, it was the kind of weather favoured by strong players who stick to simple football. For players possessing of speed or technical skills, the day really was as grim as for everyone else. The following players had been selected: 庭健 (Tingjian) - Robalo, Niehe, Göçmen - Haczek, Paz, Ségard, Bürgi, Vanderkeerssen - Bouhuis, Sviatlovich.

The following players took the field: Serrano - Kostadinović, Beltrán, Frias - Frassoni, Komandirov, Meledina, Babir Uulu, Nowek - Firyulin, Descamps.

The coaches were in sync today, as both teams lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. Independiente1982 showed off their creative tactics. Using their utopian skill, SonHec pushed their attacks towards the wings. SonHec's Gian Luca Meledina has the innate ability to create chances out of thin air. 4 minutes in he jumped up and tried a bicycle kick, knocking the ball straight past the keeper, resulting in the 0 - 1 goal. SonHec increased the lead to 0 - 2 as Maksim Firyulin scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in the top left corner. Maybe Valdemar Robalo should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 34 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. SonHec's Alonso Frias left the field after 40 minutes having twisted his hand in a collision, causing a slight injury. Danilo Bonassoli had already been warming up, and came on for Alonso Frias. It was obvious that SonHec had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as Lev Komandirov put one through the keeper's legs. 0 - 3 after 44 minutes. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Independiente1982 would have 59 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Always quick on his feet, SonHec's Mortimer Descamps sped down the field after 58 minutes, but his pass to Francesco Frassoni was just a bit too far ahead for him to get a good shot off. The local team's free kick specialist Kastus' Sviatlovich reduced the away team's lead to 1 - 3 with a cannonball in minute 61. After the goal, the coach was seen with a cigar between his teeth muttering "I love it when a plan comes together!" Wilhelm Niehe brought the corner down with his chest before whipping it to Théophile Ségard who had the whole net open before him, but his attempt hit the post. A misunderstanding between the visitors' keeper Ángel Serrano and his left defense could have resulted in a goal for Independiente1982, but Valdemar Robalo's finish was way too meek. SonHec had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to go down the wing instead. Some fine one-twos on the left led to a SonHec goal with 79 minutes gone, making it 1 - 4. Mortimer Descamps was noted down as the scorer. Players in SonHec heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. The game had been going for 87 minutes when Francesco Frassoni broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 5 for SonHec, much to the home crowd's dismay. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, SonHec's Francesco Frassoni got himself booked. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 4 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The home crowd was briefly mollified when Théophile Ségard reduced the lead to 2 - 5 after a brilliant midfield give-and-go through the middle. With 91 minutes played, a typically brave header by SonHec's Francesco Frassoni from Józef Nowek's centered ball looped just over the opposing goalkeeper's desperate reach, making the score 2 - 6. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot from the right by Mortimer Descamps beat the keeper with 91 minutes played, preventing SonHec from going up another goal. The match ends 2 - 6. Independiente1982 set the tempo, maintaining 59 percent of possession.

Independiente1982's top performer was clearly Kusi Bürgi. I can't remember Janik Vanderkeerssen ever having a worse night than he just had. Józef Nowek performed admirably for SonHec. Speaking of stinking up the place, Danilo Bonassoli sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
