Giana 0 - 5 Campalto

Weather conditions were fairly good for soccer, and Comunale saw a turnout of 27766. Mario Cabrera was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Luke Bignucolo and Sven Zinsli. The following players had been selected: Raatz - Grinovero, Maragna, Boriani, Nickles - Tascio, Arigoni, Notaristefano, Foppiani, Galotta - Wuttler.

The following players took the field: Cassarino - Preča, Duchemin, Tomisik - Mambretti, Vismara, Shusherov, Delpiccolo - Abatematteo, Haedicke, Manzato.

A.S. Giana Erminio fielded a 4-5-1 lineup. For Real Campalto, the formation of choice was a 3-4-3. Giana mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their magnificent ability to attack in the middle. A extra-terrestrial level of counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Campalto. After 1 minutes, the Campalto coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Gianfranco Mambretti off. Niklas Tullquist took his place. 22 minutes into the game, Giana had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to solid. After 23 minutes, Campalto's Matteo Abatematteo made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Giana players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. With 33 minutes played, Campalto put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Niklas Tullquist. 35 minutes into the game, Giana seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organization. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Campalto set the tempo, maintaining 61 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped Giana get back to a solid organization to start the second half. At the 57 minute mark, Campalto's Karel Preča squeezed his right hand in a collision with another player, but was able to carry on. After 59 minutes, Campalto sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Matteo Abatematteo, who had plenty of time to shoot and score - 0 - 3. The Campalto coach was happy with the scoreline, but still wanted to change the lineup. After 61 minutes, Aníbal Ferreira Magalhães came on for Federico Cassarino. The Campalto captaincy was handed to Aníbal Ferreira Magalhães. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Campalto coach let Armando La Palombara come on for Guglielmo Vismara after 69 minutes. A thrilling play through the middle after 82 minutes gave Campalto's David Haedicke a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 4. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! After 90 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Armando La Palombara who increased Campalto's lead to 0 - 5. The match ends 0 - 5. Campalto did a good job holding on to the ball, with 62 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

The most outstanding Giana player was without a doubt Jean-Philippe Wuttler. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Tommaso Galotta seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Campalto's top performer was clearly Armando La Palombara. Speaking of stinking up the place, Núbel Tomisik sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
