The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 29809 had shown up at Erich W for the match. Zvjezdan Rogina was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Michal Smola and Emile Leno. Starters: Silva Sugo - Guidi, Shamraev, Rosa - Marando, Regauer, Vattimos, Goerlich, Borrajo - Mazzuchelli, Paliyiannis.

Lineup: Palapies - Bonassoli, Kowal, Majanen, Del Rio - Komandirov, Torres, Figueroa, Argonz - Calamari, Bladys.

FC Magdeburg 08 started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas SonHec F.C. lined up in a 4-4-2. Magdeburg's game plan was to sit back and absorb the pressure, then use their solid ability to break on the counter whenever possible. For their match strategy, SonHec had decided to use their outstanding ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Was it the hair gel? Was it a gift from the gods? Either way, the faithful won't care. Soaring like a Saturn V, Nahuel Guidi somehow got his head on a Felix Tobias Goerlich moonshot from the corner and buried it in the back of the net. What grace! What power! Plant the flag for Magdeburg, Neil Armstrong! The score is now 1 - 0. Fernando Daniel Kowal made a run for the goal 21 minutes into the game but the home team's left side was too well defended and the attack fizzled out. 25 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Yiannis Paliyiannis ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 2 - 0 for Magdeburg. With 27 minutes played, SonHec's Fernando Daniel Kowal received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. Fernando Daniel Kowal saw that the keeper was out and shot from an incredible distance 37 minutes in. Unfortunately for SonHec, the ball skimmed the crossbar and went over. After 39 minutes, Nahuel Guidi took a hard knock between his legs. He needed a long breather but were eventually able to continue the game. Halftime score was 2 - 0. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Magdeburg had 66...66 percent possession. AH AH AH!

61 minutes in, an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a golden chance for the visitors. Lev Komandirov was up to the task and scored, bringing them up to 2 - 1. Felix Tobias Goerlich's curling free kick almost found the goal for Magdeburg, but the visitors' keeper somehow managed to get ahold of it. SonHec's counter-attacks were lethal to the opposing defense, allowing Gianni Del Rio to score easily from the right side for 2 - 2. SonHec's Petrik Majanen was shown a yellow card after 66 minutes for slicing down an opponent. SonHec took the lead after Danilo Bonassoli curved a free kick into the net. 2 - 3. 76 minutes in, SonHec appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only poor. Magdeburg evened the match out with 77 minutes played after a world-class penalty shot by Felix Tobias Goerlich. This brought the scoreline to 3 - 3. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, SonHec's Luigi Calamari got himself booked. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! As neither team was able to score a late winner, the teams took to the field again for extra time. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Magdeburg would have 68 percent possession in this half was spot on!

With the clock showing 91 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Martín Torres looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Iryskulbek Babir Uulu, though he would have liked to continue. 91 minutes into the game, SonHec wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Fernando Daniel Kowal gave Rene Meybauer a quick hug as he left the field. Rene Meybauer got new instructions from the SonHec coach after 91 minutes. He changed positions with Audénico Figueroa soon after. During the break, SonHec's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organization. 92 minutes into the match, SonHec's Rene Meybauer demonstrated his running prowess as he raced past his defender and passed the ball to Luigi Calamari who chipped it in for 3 - 4. With 95 minutes played, SonHec put themselves up 3 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Lev Komandirov. 103 minutes into the game, SonHec had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to inadequate. After 115 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed Luigi Calamari to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 3 - 6. The match ends 3 - 6. Yiannis Paliyiannis performed admirably for Magdeburg. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Francisco Silva Sugo today. The most outstanding SonHec player was without a doubt Iryskulbek Babir Uulu. Speaking of stinking up the place, Audénico Figueroa sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
