Clouds darkened the skies at Plassen of Grimstad as 42781 spectators turned up for the match. Tino Dornauer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Krystian Szydlak and Philipp Heng. The following players took the field: Kalitov - Strauch, Demenko, Căluşeru - Pazdernik, Kropveld, Martin, Dobrev, Morales - Vanderlinden, Baruzzi.

Lineup: Ovesson - Di Ruscio, Iacob - Schei, Ramfeldt, Tønnessen, Juul, Fernández Bautista - Sørensen, Njærheim, Gulbrandsen.

Grefstad United fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Fresvik i Sogn, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3. Grefstad broke through on the left after 28 minutes, with Maarten Vanderlinden firing at an impossible angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. Grefstad put themselves up 2 - 0 when Raúl Morales broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. The referee showed Fresvik's Alex Iacob the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Fresvik's right side looked dangerous after 35 minutes, as Åge Njærheim broke through. Alexey Kalitov continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. Coming in from the right, Raúl Morales almost managed to score another goal for Grefstad, but his header was kept out by the lightning fast reflexes of the visiting keeper. The home team's lead was reduced to 2 - 1 after Fresvik's Åge Njærheim took advantage of a misunderstanding in the center of the defense. It was 2 - 1 at the break. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grefstad, with an impressive 51 percent possession of the ball.

Oswald Kropveld was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 48 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. Kim Gulbrandsen's Road Runner-esque speed was too much for Leonardo Strauch who could only look on as the Fresvik player blasted one home. 2 - 2. With the match clock reading 76 minutes, the inexperienced Fresvik team fell into disarray. Some great play up the middle by Grefstad led to a chance for Oswald Kropveld to get the go-ahead goal with 77 minutes played, but the shot hit the crossbar. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Many thought Cosmin Căluşeru ought to have been awarded a penalty 89 minutes into the match, as he went down trying to beat Sixten Ovesson after an attack through the middle gave him the one-on-one opportunity. As neither team had managed to win, 30 minutes of extra time was called. Grefstad set the tempo, maintaining 51 percent of possession.

The Fresvik coach might have gone through a whole marker putting the playbook up on the board, but it seemed to have worked, with the team regaining a solid organization for the second half. Following a nasty collision in the 110, Fresvik's Jone Juul complained of a damaged shoulder. He was advised against continuing the game. Rafael Filipe Sousa had already been warming up, and came on for Jone Juul. After 119 minutes, the Fresvik coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Kim Gulbrandsen off. Anders Wiers took his place. Alex Iacob was handed the Fresvik captain's armband. 119 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Fresvik substitution. Jan-Erik Størseth came on for Alex Iacob. As Fresvik's captain went off, he handed the armband to Antonio Fernández Bautista. After extra time, the game was still tied and a penalty kick shootout ensued.

Grefstad's Brennan Martin didn't hesitate but Sixten Ovesson managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 2 - 2 score. When it comes to placing a ball precisely, Anders Wiers is a real wizard. He knocked it home for Fresvik to make the score 2 - 3. Grefstad's Erik Demenko cockily booted the ball after a short run-up. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Fresvik's Sixten Ovesson made no mistake. Alexey Kalitov didn't have a chance. 2 - 4. A confident Cosmin Căluşeru of Grefstad put the ball right where he wanted, but Sixten Ovesson was there for the save. No goal. Fresvik's Antonio Fernández Bautista proved he has nerves of steel from the penalty spot, changing the score to 2 - 5. The match ends 2 - 5. Most important Grefstad player was Vasil Dobrev. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Randulf Pazdernik today. Sixten Ovesson performed admirably for Fresvik. I can't remember Jan-Erik Størseth ever having a worse night than he just had.
