Sarajewo 0 - 7 SCK

The crowd of 3544 turning up at FC Santiagoo Kretto today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Darryl Benton was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aristotelis Mintsou and Sven Good. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. Starters: Wasiolek - Szudrowicz, Bziuk, Pacia, Bartkowiak - Stręk, Marczyński, Szymona, Święs - Werth, Biednik.

They fielded: Răducan - Verbelen, Sequeira, Vilerts, Mola - Kozimor, Fernández Mediavilla, Østbye - Gorják, Ahola, Plain.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, FC Sarajewo, went for a 4-4-2, while Scyzory Kielce has decided to play a 4-3-3 lineup. SCK saw most attack opportunities on the wings by using their magnificent ability to push the attack in the right direction. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 6 minutes into the match left SCK's Rafael Fernández Mediavilla completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. It was obvious that SCK had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. The away team's Daniel Plain took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 15 minutes increasing SCK's lead to 0 - 2. Giovanni Mola somehow managed to break free of his man on the left wing and only needed a relatively easy finish to bring SCK's lead up to 0 - 3. The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as Rafael Fernández Mediavilla put one through the keeper's legs. 0 - 4 after 25 minutes. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 28 minutes on the clock after Rafael Fernández Mediavilla's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the SCK player a yellow card though. 34 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 5 as Jukka Ahola finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular bicycle kick. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. SCK set the tempo, maintaining 77 percent of possession.

SCK came close to extending their lead as Jukka Ahola delivered a low effort on goal from the right but the angle was too sharp, and the shot was destined for the side netting. After 81 minutes, SCK's Jukka Ahola burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 6. Jukka Ahola of SCK received a yellow card after 84 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. SCK were determined to attack down the sideline and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favor of the wings. After 86 minutes of game time, Jukka Ahola had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, hitting a cross from the right with a half volley, but Feliks Wasiolek was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. SCK's Jukka Ahola made it through the home team's defense on the right hand side 87 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded net when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. The visitors' Daniel Plain took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 87 minutes into the match. 0 - 7 for SCK. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 7. The forty-five minutes were dominated by SCK, with an impressive 81 percent possession of the ball.

Sarajewo's best player was Przemysław Bartkowiak. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Feliks Wasiolek today. SCK's top performer was clearly Jukka Ahola. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Daniel Plain seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
