An interview with Themongos (Part 2)

The second part of my interview with Themongos.

What is your definition of "success" in HT?

It depends what you want from your team really, and a lot of that can come down to what country you are playing in. Obviously, to win cups and leagues with your club team is a good thing and something to aim for, but then so is training your own squad and getting home-grown players all the way to NT level – it's great when one of your players scores the winner in a big NT game!
At NT level with Northern Ireland, even qualifying for round 2 of the World Cups is an automatic success. I think only 3 or maybe 4 managers have ever managed to get an NI NT/U-20 squad past the qualifiers, it's a really tough achievement.

Who is the favourite player you owned?

For some people this might be a hard question, but for me it's real easy - Oscar Bruton, the greatest keeper NI has had so far (266401453). Home grown from the academy, made it to U-20s, made it to NT level, qualified for world cup round II, and even played some Masters matches. Plus he scored 50 goals! And then he coached a new generation of talent for a while.

Also shout outs to the killing machine (50369399) and Ming's double (37011338). And I've recently heard this lad is coming out of retirement! (318987851).

Tell us about your team. What is the inspiration for your team name? And how did you learn about Hattrick?

Well I am Ming and I rule the galaxy from the planet Mongo, so I have sent my Mongaloid army to conquer the football world and destroy the hated Flash Gordon. They might be on the wrong pills though... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjFCVTpsIps)

Did you have a mentor at the beginning of your career to help and guide you through the first steps of running your team?

Nope, I read the rule book and read the forums a bit and watched what the better teams were doing in the league and just figured things out myself. As I went along I learned more about how the game works, mostly from useful forum posts, also partly from cold hard experience.

How do you deal with your expenses? Training, trading or just hoarded money from the past?

My expenses are currently perfectly manageable and I'm turning fairly good profits every season from good league and cup runs. The odd good youth sale helps too of course. I never hoarded any money, I always spent it on buying top trainees.

So, thank you for the advices! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5BCx4OVG38)
